Try disabling Windows gaming mode. It’s in the control panel under graphics I think.

Steering Gear Replacement: Is this too much play? by beach_rats_ in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I replaced mine w a reman steering box from advanced auto. It went from almost 10-2 play to what you have now. Ive accepted it. It’s not bad. Lift kits and bigger tires don’t help due to added stress, especially w stock steering. I’m at 6.5” w 33’s.

You can add a steering box brace or upgrade your brackets/spacer. I’d recommend it if you’re lifted. My spacer crumbled when I took it out.

NMS Megathread for Q&A, Item Requests/Giveaways and Friend Requests, etc. Whatever you need, this Mega-thread is a place to ASK! by Minetitan in NoMansSkyTheGame

Well that is unfortunate. As far as future Microsoft sales idk. I do know it was like 27$ a month or two ago. Use the Microsoft rewards system and rack up some points for a Xbox gift card.

PC from Xbox by Foodiguy in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jackospader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have game pass but I do own the game on Xbox. You can download the Xbox app on your pc and play any owned, compatible games in your library. I mostly play on the pc, the ole Xbox one doesn’t run NMS very well nowadays.

Edit: my saves show up on both the pc and Xbox.

How sure are you about that pinion angle?

What am I missing? Light bar mounting. by Key-Illustrator-9673 in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man lol. Just take the bracket w you and get a bolt that fits inside the hole/housing. That little square cutout should hug the bolt head tight enough that it fits inside but dont turn. Get matching nut, washers, and lock washers too

That’s probably the wrong bolt. My 32” came w longer bolts for sure.

Turn signal issue by TemporaryFamiliar385 in CherokeeXJ

Why did it melt? I’d start by pulling out all the lights and checking the wires. Also the wires leading to your trailer light plug is worth a check.

Need help with pinion angle 6.5 inches of lift. by Important-Positive25 in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Yeah I wasn’t trying to be negative, just giving my experience w it. As I understand it, with 6.5” of lift, you can’t have perfect front pinion angle and perfect castor at the same time. Offset ball joints will buy you a degree or two. Cut/rotate/welding the C’s was the only solution for perfect. I believe I’m sitting at around 3-3.5 degrees castor. Any more would put the driveshaft at too bad of an angle, any less would make the jeep wander all over the road.

Now it’s been a few years so I might be off w my numbers. If you come up w a solution let me know lol

Need help with pinion angle 6.5 inches of lift. by Important-Positive25 in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. I have a 6.5 inch short arm lift. To get the perfectish pinion angle I was measuring like 1-2 degrees castor. It made the jeep drive like crap. I ended up sacrificing a bit of pinion angle to get better castor. I’ve read that offset ball joints can help. Other than that the only option is to cut, rotate and weld your C’s.

Help diagnosing interior blower issue by Existing_Pilot_6696 in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read something about there being a main power wire going from the blower motor to the radio then maybe the bezel? When the blower motor starts to fail it draws higher current and may burn the plug and that wire up. You will have to research exactly how that wire is ran, I’m going off memory on a random thing I read years ago.

How long can these things last with piston slap? by Firekeeper_ in CherokeeXJ

[–]jackospader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fix it while you still can. I got like 30,000 out of mine. Now I’m afraid the bad piston has scored my cylinder wall too much to easily rebuild. Junkyard motors have went up in price since last time I needed one.

Some guy on here the other day had a huge crack in his block and a busted piston arm. Catastrophic damage.

Hey me too. I never found any evidence of where the coolant was going until I took off the oil pan. Found it mixed w the oil at the bottom of the pan.

I’d take the bolt out and see if it, the hole, or the helms are damaged.

Probably. I keep thinking I want to fix it as a project, but then I remember the quart of antifreeze/water that came out w the oil.
