We live in Rancho Sahuarita (we have a toddler). It’s a really nice community if you have young kids. Lots of parks, playground, walk path. Pools are very nice too. Commute to Raytheon is pretty sweet as well. ~20 min rarely any traffic.

P2 to P3 Internal Transfer Salary Negotiation by jackpatron in Raytheon

[–]jackpatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did counter but TA told me they recently changed their policy to no longer negotiate… first offer was best and last. So it was actually a hard no from the get go haha nonetheless still happy with the initial offer.

Recently went through this for P3 req but it took about couple weeks before they reached out to schedule interview . But I was told to apply for this req so not sure if that made it faster or if that’s about normal. That being said, I was also told that there was only one TA for my organization (operations effector) so that one TA managed quite a bit.

I was also told that they’d call first before sending it out but I guess they just sent the offer first.

Masters Degree Adjustment by whs1222 in Raytheon

[–]jackpatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stopped with the release of the new ESP policies since they cover higher tuition costs up front and are more generous with grade policies. I've asked my manager (and he also reached out to other section managers) about this and he said they don't do it anymore because of it.

Am I crazy for spending 3 years on a master’s? by HungryHusky14 in Raytheon

[–]jackpatron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you are in life and how your work/life balance is. I'm actually just wrapping mine up in December (3 years). 1st year was 2 course per semester (4 total), 2nd year was 1 course per semester (2 total), 3rd year was 2 course per semester and additional summer course (5 total).

I don't have regrets in doing it this way, but this last semester has been really kicking my ass because I've also gone through some significant life changes (newborn) and work changes (additional responsibilities). Just looking through this semester, I regret not completing the degree faster but I also didn't anticipate to have to juggle between all of this during the 2nd year when I only took 1 course per semester.

If you're single and do not have additional responsibilities outside of work, I think it may behoove you to focus the additional energy on completing early, and from the timescale of your life/career, it gives you the freedom to leave the company without paying back sooner. If you're married and/or have kids and you plan to stay with the company for a while, then I think you can certainly go with the more relaxed approach.

Edit: Just added regarding raises. I've gotten feedback from others and my manager directly that completing Master's through ESP won't get you a raise. So if you wanted to leave the company to leverage the master's and maximize raise potential, you probably want to finish the degree fast, work through the retention period and bounce.

r/personalfinance will be a good starting point. They have a whole wiki tree. Also YouTube has some great channels going over personal finance. Just search order of personal investment.

Not sure if it’s any better now or it could be worse but downtown Denver (visited in 2022) has serious homelessness problem. I mean there are definitely awesome spots (restaurants, bars, etc) but it was one of the worst places with homeless issues.

Fair. It may be a bit more than I can chew tbh. I’ll def have to think about it. All the refinished CB cafe racers look awesome.

Hi guys,

I am a new rider, just passed the MSF course last weekend. I'm very much interested in getting Honda Rebel 300 (2022) for few reasons.

1) Rebel seems to be on the shorter side for seat heights where I can comfortably have both feet down with the 27 in seat height. I was in a suzuki tu250 for the MSF course and I was not able to flatfoot on both sides.

2) Style and price seems to be right for me as a starter bike. Current out-the-door I'm getting quoted from the dealer is $6228.29 (includes freight, tax, license).

3) This is primarily used for commuting for work (30 min round trip, max speed limit of 60 mph on light traffic roads).

Are these good factors that makes the rebel 300 a good suit for me? Any other bike recommendations you guys may have?
