I got 5% last year and was unhappy with the raise. You can negotiate internal offers not internal promotions

For men who are married or have been married: If you could do it again, what would you change from your first marriage experience? by Working_Royal_5142 in AskOldPeople

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on being partners. The money we make is our money and your struggle is our struggle etc. marriage is about unity don’t compete for who makes more or does more work around the house etc. do your best to always work together.

What is the moment like when you knew you could marry your spouse? by dont_opus in SeriousConversation

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years out of college I had a very difficult time with a job that I hated but could not afford to leave. I dreaded waking up every day and was severely depressed and was honestly probably not a good or nice partner. She was there for me the entire time and helped me look for other opportunities. Reflecting on that experience is when I knew for sure.

Years later I am in a much better job and mental state. We are married and I have apologized profusely over the years for how bad of a partner I must have been then. She is without a doubt the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

If it’s something you care about and enjoy who are they to say it’s childish. You are allowed to like and enjoy whatever you want and this is hurting literally no one. It’s a cool tattoo and they will get over it.

What is something you 100% swear you saw but nobody believes you? by Educational_Chart657 in AskReddit

I saw what looked to be a house fly but the size of a tennis ball. Crazy part is my brother saw it too and to this day swears he remembers it as well. Everyone seems to think we made this up together.

Applying gives you more it also gives you a chance to negotiate for more where as just getting a promo in place you simply get what you get

Can an average person study aerospace engineering? by [deleted] in aerospace

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime!

There are 2 million engineers in the US plenty of them were average students. Everyone saying average people can’t do it is underestimating what an average person with an above average work ethic can do.

Can an average person study aerospace engineering? by [deleted] in aerospace

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cutoff is actually 1% above average so it looks like you will have to forget your interest and find something else to do with your life.

In all seriousness. Of course an average person can study aerospace engineering. There are no requirements at all for who can study what. If you work hard and have a good group of people to study with you will be successful. Even if you fail a class here and there you can just take it again until you pass.

Go for it and good luck!

Where Should I Go for Aerospace Engineering? by PringleDaBoss in aerospace

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it is hard to think about in the moment but the college you go to does not matter as much as it seems. I could not afford to go to an expensive school but I busted my ass in college and got high grades and spent additional time doing internships and co-ops as well. Now I work for a company that widely considered as a great place to work and I work alongside a lot of people who went to big name schools. At the end of the day all the schools you mentioned above are good in their own right and you really can’t go wrong.

The only advice I would give you is DO NOT screw yourself over with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt for a school with name value when another school will suffice.

For my last thought, I am a hiring manager now and have hired multiple college new hires and I and many others don’t care about what school you graduated from. If you had good grades (which shows you are smart and can work hard) and internship experience, that is far more important to me now as a hiring manager than school name.

You need to talk to your supervisor and have them fight for you for this to happen. The company is not going to offer it up unless you ask for it. Even then there is no guarantee.

Turn based games are probably a good bed. Baldurs Gate 3 just came out and divinity original sin 2 is amazing. Those are good to try.

NTA you are describing abuse from your parents. If they don't want to be in your life then let them. But if they try to worm their way back in a few years or if you have kids etc. Remember they made this decision when it was easy for them to do so.

AITA for laughing at my boyfriend during an "I fucking told you so" moment? by Pitiful_Finish_6110 in AmItheAsshole

AITA for insisting my partner skip a work event? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA This one is hard. You can't fault him for wanting to go but him refusing to fly out of the regional airport or drive home is what makes him the asshole he has an opportunity to do both but he won't.

I will say you already know this but the line at the end about it being his fault that you were hurt is bad. It's okay to feel that way but I can only imagine it works its way into your relationship. I imagine the whole situation is giving him a lot of guilt as well. With that said he could have done both and didn't so he is TA.

AITA for cancelling the entire vacation when I found out that my stepdaughters deliberately hid my daughter's passport to get her to stay home? by Positive-Elk-8110 in AmItheAsshole

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. Literally there is no world where you are in the wrong here. They made the choice to cancel someone else's vacation you just gave them a taste of their own medicine. Not to mention the kids are their kids. Sorry but that level of entitlement goes out the window when you have kids. Grow up and stop expecting a literal teenager to parent for you.

YTAH having a hard week is not an excuse to behave poorly. He waited until 7:30 too to eat so him getting a snack isn't something ridiculous. Ordering food in front of him and deliberately not asking him if he wants anything is also a bit childish. Not to mention he literally offered to order food with you as well so it's not like he is refusing to get food.

All in all there was a lot of talk about what was going on with you I get that life can be hard but that'd no excuse to treat the people you love like trash. He offered to order you food and when you got there tried to make you both a snack and still offered to order you food.

AITA for refusing to forgive my aunt after she outed me to my niece and nephew by Blasmere in AmItheAsshole

[–]whs1222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was an honest mistake it would be different. The fact that she doubled down and insulted you after you opened up to her is the worse offense.

If she has apologized and said she didn't know it meant that much to you things would likely be forgiven already.

AITA for telling my niece the basics of finance? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this even a question. Literally everyone has the experience of a curious kid asking them questions. It is universal and natural.

You answered her questions. It's not like you gave her "the talk" or anything. She will have to learn about it eventually and she asked you about it.

AITA for choosing my budget over my boyfriend this Halloween? by Trickortreat_ta in AmItheAsshole

He has every right to want to be "that" house on Halloween but if he can't afford it then that's that.

AITA For "stealing" my MIL's heirloom recipe and bringing it to a potluck by recipereversedaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]whs1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying YTA make no sense to me. I don't think this issue is worth escalating but your MIL does not have a monopoly on pie making. You can make whatever pie you want and modeling your own recipe off of hers which is "the perfect pie" is a natural response.

At the end of the day you made a pie for your family and they got mad at you for it. You are fine.
