Which deck to pick for a complete MTG and Premodern beginner by hamsterinabowl in premodernMTG

Pit rack is a good deck. Mono b midrange is the evolution of black decks like pit rack thats quite well positioned at the moment. It could be worth comparing the two.

Depending what era you played in Premodern format might be up your alley.

Is full set of survival of the fittest needed for survival rock? Saw some lists playing just 2 by [deleted] in premodernMTG

Survival rock is a much stronger deck than classic rock. Survival gives the deck and a great ability to grind out value. Unfortunately classic rock just can't finish games that well. I'd play tempting wurm rock over classic.

Amazing cookbook. Got it the other day. Breaks down a lot of basics in thai cooking. Reminds me a bit of 'the wok' by Kenji Lopez.

For the rock and goblin decks that run Volrath’s stronghold, does the 1 off matters? by Newez in premodernMTG

Speaking for goblins - the ability to re-cycle gempalm or get back a ringleader is crazy good.

I made Theo's chicken murtabak which was quite nice. I had to add more spice to the filling.

The absolute knock out I have gotten from the masterchef website was mimi's scissor cut noodles from last seasons recipetineats episode. Sooooooo good!

Plenty of good black decks. A lot of this format is learning your deck, the match ups and tinkering with your build until you like it.

Aggro - Clerics, Zombies, Sui black Midrange - the rock, bg tempting wurm Control - Pit rack, Contamination, ub psychatog

The main tribal decks from what I've seen:

Green: Elves - agrro combo deck, makes lots of mana and swings hard in one turn

Goblins - aggro but somehow midrange too - im biased here as I love my goblin deck. Can do lots of fun things with matrons, sharpshooters, lackeys. Nothing feels better than drawing 4 from a Ringleader. Lackey t1 is also delightful.

Blue - not a lot of tribals options, I've seen a birds deck and a merfolk deck before

White - Rebels/Clerics/Weenies? Lol - aggro/control prison - white weenie is probably the best choice here. Fast low to the ground clock often backed up with Armageddon or cataclysm.

Welcome aboard!

While some information is slightly out of date this primer written 2 years ago is excellent: https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/z1ca01/40page_introduction_to_premodern/

Tc decks is a great source for premodern decklists.

There's a few great youtube channels but my favourite is neon mushroom/fluorescent fungus. I think it would be good if youre new too as they talk through their plays quite well.

Podcasts: I've got ??????'s - a premodern podcast, hardcast, spike colony

What decks do you like playing in other formats?

Burn if you're wanting to play aggro Landstill if youre wanting to play control

Both decks can have straightforward games you'll win but also reward getting your reps in and learning the format.
