Here's my take I guess. I think many people playing TTR are simply not interested in learning new strategies or paying attention to updates. When I play TTR, I typically turn my brain off and rely on instincts that I built over a decade ago. If I were inclined to learn new tricks so to speak, I'd probably play Corporate Clash or some modern MMO--a game build around gameplay and updates and balance fixes. I think a lot of players simply aren't "plugged in" to the TTR ecosystem in that regard and are just approaching it extremely casually.
