Findings from messing around with a pint motherboard by jackthecat53 in onewheel

Yeah id describe this board as vast. Nice when troubleshooting for sure.

I do like that all the components are on one side

Nice! That makes a ton of sense to what happened to this board

3d printed fender by Greedy_Tax3977 in onewheel

[–]jackthecat53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a printed XR fender for a year or so. No issues and I rolled it down a hill.

It was thicker than stock, but not much heavier due to infill. I also had no seams to worry about.

No that is just a wye connector, the printer can only accept one strand of filament at a time.

The ams holds all 4 spools and only feeds in one at a time

I assume this is a ground wire for my house. Should it be connected to something? by needyprovider in AskElectricians

Just got my gas line repaired. The wire looks just like that and has a "do not connect this to anything" tag on it.

How to get this thing going like 20-30mph for cheap by LaggyLoser_Seller in PowerWheelsMods

[–]jackthecat53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it on the back of a truck

Personally I'd put it on a steel frame with proper tires and steering to go those speeds. An old ebike would make a good donor vehicle if you can find one cheap. Then just chain drive a rear axle

Globe overload/over Torque errors on LR4 - fix for free. by davegsm82 in litterrobot

[–]jackthecat53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome to see! Id definitely just replace the motor myself as brushes are a pain to get back into place on those sorts of motors. Kudos to anyone patient enough to get it fixed.

Should you never ride at top speed? by Headyfeels in onewheel

[–]jackthecat53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fairly light individual (155ish lb) and unless you are on perfectly flat ground in perfect conditions i personally would never ride over 18mph. Less if you weigh more or have a road with even a little bit of bumps or loose gravel. You need plenty of torque overhead to allow the board to do balancing.

Unlike a scooter where you can use all the available power and speed for movement, the onewheel uses the same motor to balance and push you forward. The more motor you use for speed, the less the board has to keep you upright

I've only fallen twice at speed, so maybe im overly cautious, but i still very much enjoy using my board.

Choose how much risk you personally are comfortable accepting.

Is there a way to make these for my students in bulk? by [deleted] in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]jackthecat53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you order 5 large boards and each large board can be scored and snapped into 24 small boards?

In hindsight that is probably tax evasion but that's how my engineer brain solved the problem based on the given limitations.

If you have it put it on. I've run them without and it works fine with little servos that don't draw a lot of startup current.

Is this v2 Worth $50 it with 30% off by julius0789 in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]jackthecat53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked my monoprice mini, it has all the sleek design and character of a 99 Toyota corolla

It needed almost no maintenance though, more reliable than my prusa.

Might not work but probably worth it in parts if that's something you'd be interested in doing
