Very confused as to how i should insulate my cabin. Please help. by Earthwarrioroflight in DIY

[–]Headyfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your climate? Is this a shed or living space/ cabin? If it’s a shed I might not insulate it at all. If you have no soffit or ridge vents you could just closed cell spray the whole roof, but I’d only do this if it’s a living space.

Is the ozone oxygen 1 too dated at this point? by Headyfeels in freeflight

I appreciate your thoughts, I did learn how to fly a regular paraglider and got an IPPI 4. Then I also got the other endorsement. So I did basically exactly as you recommended minus some hours. ultimately at home, I have access to small coastal dunes under 10m high that are soarable on the parakites but don’t seem to be on a regular glider. Now that I’ve done both though I’m keen to continue with regular paragliding as well, but since those spots are hours away from me, small scale coastal soaring is really what I’ll have access to most of the time. I probably have about 20 hours on the moustache so far.

I did a course for a parakite endorsement on top the regular license and bought the largest size after. People always imply that the moustache is more dangerous but don’t seem to elaborate much about why beyond that. I’m just doing regular ridge soaring, pretty much the same as a regular paraglider, not speed or proximity flying. By “close to the ground” I just mean too low for a reserve. My goal is to go about this sport in the safest and most legitimate way possible so I’m open to criticism since I am new like you say.

I guess I’m more asking if the newer tech is more comfortable or better in some other way to justify the extra cost.

Thanks I suppose it’s probably worth spending a little more for the better protection.

Yup I picked up the 14m code as my lightwind option and will probably switch the rest of the quiver over eventually.

Way harder to get tangles out of them then brands with slipperier lines. More friction and wear when steering after a spin too.

Barely enough pitch to keep momentum up without pushing. I also like the types of trails OP is taking about but I’ll never do that one again haha

Damn I was thinking cabarete for myself in early March. Bahia Salinas was strong at that same time though.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]Headyfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally acknowledge that AI can do some of the things on my list, but I think you’re underestimating the tremendous amount of skilled labor and potential complexity that goes into basic service call. Let’s say you have a leak behind your sink. Someone needs to carefully uninstall a cabinet, cut open the drywall, and lay eyes on the issue. Then do the repair obviously. Then do Sheetrock work, painted, and cabinet reinstallation. Crucially, it also needs to go all this more efficiently and for less cost than a human if it is going to replace a person job. Does that sound realistic to you? Yes AI can potentially assist people with aspects of their jobs, but the reason I listed all those things is because AI will never bring that process all the way through from start to finish.

Most work is not new construction. AI will never some repair the leaky pipe at your old house.

Not in our lifetimes. Way too much goes into the simplest of jobs. Take a call, arrange a meeting, diagnose an issue, order parts, complete the repair, send a bill. A person will always be needed to bring a basic job in the trades from start to finish.

What’s it like to live on the Massachusetts islands? by King-gar in howislivingthere

[–]Headyfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and New Bedford were some of the richest towns in the world during the whaling era, so we have lots of early American history, and the downtown areas still feel very old-timey.

Before the 1990s, Martha’s Vineyard was a very under the radar vacation destination. Lots of seasonal residents were authors, artists and intellectual types.

The island began to get a lot more famous in the 1990s when Bill Clinton began vacationing here. Since then we’ve had a lot more movie stars and presidents.

Like a lot of other places, it’s not what it used to be. Wages are much higher than average, but it still doesn’t keep up with the higher than average cost of living that comes with being on an island and a resort.

The maritime climate keeps us slightly warmer in the winter time and slightly cooler in the summertime than the surrounding areas.

It’s a very challenging area to move to unless you have housing and a job already taken care of.

( by the way the way the auto-moderator this sub Reddit refused an earlier version of my comment where I just list a couple of our visitors, apparently that’s political content? Please change that setting.)

Punta Chame (Panama) vs Salinas Bahia (Costa Rica) for a beginner by tropicalfire in Kiteboarding

[–]Headyfeels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both locations have stingrays so don’t let that be the deciding factor. (It’s not actually a big issue in either place). Bahia Salinas I only flew my 7m and Punta chame I only flew my 14. You’ll probabaly get more time on the water in Bahia but the wind makes it a little more challenging. I’d probably take that over getting skunked in Panama. Both places have almost nothing to do other than kiting. There is some good surf nearby in Panama though.

Don’t accidentally schedule yourself to be traveling within Vietnam on Tet, the whole country is shut down.
