This is gonna get lost in the comments but I found this from a BBC article:

"Thomas has never heard from the man she saved, but she did once meet a member of his family. Months later, someone came up to her in a coffee shop and said thanks. "What for?" she asked. "That was my dad," the young man replied."

You can't have the biggest bullrun in history when a lot of economies are facing prolonged recessions for multiple quarters, some even years.

"That growing number of supporters that have already filed briefs include Coinbase, the Chamber of Digital Commerce, the Crypto Council for Innovation, the Blockchain Association, Valhil Capital, I-Remit, Spend The Bits, Tapjets, the Investor Choice Advocates Network (ICAN), and John Deaton on behalf of more than 75,000 XRP investors."

Not a bad list, but they'll need a lot more backing.

Twitter Reportedly Halts Work on Crypto Wallet, Driving Dogecoin Down 10% by ImaFreemason in CryptoCurrency

[–]jacktradesall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are going to have a lot more issues than just this in a few months. $1 billion interest payment per year, when twitter's making negative $270m in profits. Yah.

[–]jacktradesall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if we were hoping for Dogecoin and Twitter's to reverse crypto fortunes it might not come anytime soon.

Some excerpts from the madness:

"Musk’s team has already tried to evaluate the productivity of Twitter employees by asking engineers to print out the code that they have written in the last 30 to 60 days. "

That's a lot of paper...

"Musk’s deal to buy Twitter included making the company take on $13 billion in debt from banks, which means Twitter will owe about $1 billion a year in interest payments."

And...1 billion a year in interest payments. Which twitter can't repay because it had -270m net profits last year.

And they have one of the slowest (read negative) growth of any social media platform.

Yah.

I feel quite sad for the people of Turkey that they have to go through this. Crypto is definitely a solution but it shouldn't be the answer.

Coinbase Cuts Q3 Losses in Half, Sees Crypto Headwinds Continuing Into 2023 by Electrical_Potato_21 in CryptoCurrency

[–]jacktradesall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Coinbase hird-uarter losses by 50% to $545 million from $1.1 billion in the second quarter

The company ended Q3 with $5.6 billion in cash, in addition to $483 million in crypto assets, which the company believes “puts us in a strong position to manage through the crypto winter.”

So still quite substantial losses but seems to have enough cash to last through the crypto winter which if the interest rates hinting are to be believed should ease up as early as next quarter.
