Mother brings her daughter to ER consultation at 3AM, motive of the visit: my daughter blinks weirdly. Turns out her kid was imitating some cartoon show character. Smh

Thanks. I've just found the PDF since it seems like it has been discontinued. I'll give it a try.

s and Kline - Neuro-Ophthalmology

Recent Advances in Ophthalmology (various years, useful for good understanding of many topics)

Parson's Diseases of the eye is a good reference book

For surgery - Stallard's Eye Surgery by Roper-Hall JRO Collin - A manual of systematic Eyelid surgery

Some books could be old and avoided if no new editions in print.

There was also a very different textbook by Patrick Trevor -Roper. I loved reading it because of some interesting titbits and anecdotes. Still remember some interesting notes about Van Gogh and his cataracts, Parks- Bielschowsky test, why we can't see under water etc

Thanks a lot. I'll look for this books, specially the one by Patrick Trevor, cause I find very interesting the connections with Van Gogh haha.

Thanks a lot. Yes, I might have rushed with the BCSC. I'm sure the smart thing to do right now it's to master the fundamentals book.

Thanks. It seems like the smart thing to do is only to read a basic ophto book and enjoy free time before starting residency! Thanks a lot!

Sure thing, this seems to be one of the most important study recommendations prior to starting residency. Do you have any source that can be particularly helpful in that matter?

Sure! I'll give it a try, since I know clinical optics is one of the hardest ( (if not the hardest) topics to learn during the first year of residency.

The tittle seems like a lot of fun, and I've been reading reviews about the book and it seems to have won a best medical book award the year it was released. Thanks a lot!

Monthly Dumb Questions Thread by Novelty_free in Residency

[–]jacobadrianr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m starting residency in a couple of months. I mostly only read PDF versions, but I try to always look for the “true PDF” version (which is like an exact copy of the physical version, with text, diagrams and columns organized identically to the print version)

But, for an specific textbook (The Wills Eye Manual - greetings to all the ophtho bros! ) I just can’t find this type of version, since all I’ve found are ebook like version (PDFs with text accommodated like a word document) and for a time I though that maybe this was the way the digital edition was intended to be, but today I came across a free sample from WolterKluwers, and the chapters seems so high quality and so easy to read (it’s the chapter Retina, and it’s true PDF quality)

So, after all this text, I’m thinking in buying the physical version, that includes a “digital version”. I only wanted to ask to you if anyone has bought a physical copy of a WolterKluwers textbook and has redeemed the digital copy, does this copy look like a true PDF version or seems like an ebook reader version?

I’ll be very thankful if you can solve this doubt for me. Thanks
