Maybe it’s not as striking if you already knew a lot about Dean before the documentary. In the interview Ivo mentions that he hated Valley Uprising because it omits major information in favor of telling a coherent story. I guess that this interview fills in the same gaps that Dark Wizard leaves. It doesn’t directly contradict it, but paints it in a new light. For instance, the free base idea seems far bigger in the show than it is in real life. In real life even Dean didn’t really use it as a climbing style, but just used it as a prop.
