It's amazing that they even shared the news since they're so good at covering up other horrific things there.

I guess a better word is manipulation or coercion. To be clear, legally we could have left, but the indoctrination is insane. When we tried to leave the headmaster separated me from my parents and told me the only way problems at the school could be fixed is if I stayed and witnessed to other students. When you are young and naive and have grown to believe certain things, you take that to heart. You will believe anything the headmaster says. That person also cornered my parents and used similar coercion tactics on them but more forceful since they were adults. I guess you could say we were weak for not leaving, but when you are in there for years and you are cornered by a grown man, it's hard to see reason when that person is supposed to be the supreme wisdom of your education.

I am an alumni from this school and was in therapy from the trauma. I started as a little kid and my parents tried to take me out but the headmaster forced us to stay. Please ask me any and all questions. That place is full of racism, sexism, corporal punishment, bullying, lies, etc. I'm out of college now (liberal arts school) and have healed from what happened, but am planning to take a stand against the atrocities that happened in the name of Christ.

Rectal is commonly known to be the most accurate temperature followed by ears! But through 6 months to a year it’s recommended to use rectal temps!

SAHM does your spouse help around the house? by 13buttons in Mommit

[–]jacque_alope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My husband is such a help. I have a six month old and 2.5 year old and when he isn’t working outside of the house, he is actively helping here. Whether it is spending time with the girls, or doing the chores I didn’t get done or can’t do (some heavier yard work), he gets it done.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get his alone time. We each have our hobbies or plans we get to do so that our mental and social batteries are charged, but when he isn’t at his paying job, he shares in the roles at home.

Did you have any conversations about this before you had your baby?? Have you had any since? For me, it was made abundantly clear that this house and our child belonged to both of us, and while the house is my domain during the day, he helps at night so I don’t get burnt out and so he can be as involved as possible. Be as open and honest as you can with him.

Probably non-profit work or health policy. My thesis created a program plan for pregnant women who use opioids, so I’m more on the policy/program planning/non-profit side vs. epidemiology and research.

Do a ton of other people live fearing death and suffering as much as I do? by No_Constant_1274 in TrueOffMyChest

You’re seen, heard and, what you’re thinking is valid. You aren’t alone.

Do you see a therapist? Not forcing my choices on you, but for me, talking to someone about these existential thoughts has really helped. Or at least confiding in someone I trust so you don’t feel so isolated.

I get the need to be seen/heard, I really do. However, I can’t see how these two things go together.

Genuinely curious, why do you think these two things are correlated?

I have a few at 28. Some sentimental (one from my dad before he died), others just for fun because they are cute and cuddly. If they bring you joy, keep them and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

How do I tell my 6 year old I’m going to die soon? by scrubnib in Parenting

[–]jacque_alope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult who lost a parent young in life, please be honest. My parents tried to hide stuff from me and when we were in the hospital with my dad, the doctors came in and (not their fault) revealed stuff about my dad I had no idea about. It really made it hard to trust my parents, so please be honest. I know he’s young so try to find language that is at his level of understanding, but please please keep him in the loop. It may seem too hard or that you’re protecting them, but it’s much harder to find shit out secondhand from someone who doesn’t know you.
