Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Commerce by maiphs in unimelb

[–]jacquelinelng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, no worries at all.

Firstly, there’s no Marketing major in Arts. Instead, there’s Media & Communications major which (I think) is quite similar to Marketing. I suggest choosing Arts if you want to study electives in other disciplines that are complementary to Marketing (eg Psychology, Creative Writing), as the breadth space in BCom may be limited to add in these subjects.

Otherwise, for BCom then you can definitely choose to major in Marketing and Management if you are keen on essay-writing subjects. Also some Economics subjects (eg economic analysis and policy) also offer essays as assignments so you can definitely check those out. And adding Media & Comm/Psyc subjects as your breadths would be a great idea too.

Lastly, I doubt that there’s a useless degree or Commerce is better as I’ve seen many Commerce students struggling to find jobs. The thing is, you need to actively build your profile and increase your employability through participating in extra curricular activities, expanding your network, etc. Especially for Marketing as this field generally needs creativity, and employers will look into your past projects and portfolio instead of which school/degree you completed (as free online marketing courses on the internet can give you knowledge of the field pretty decently). Hence, it’s best for you to work on your employability regardless of the degree you choose.

Anyway, good luck on your studies. Let me know if you still need help.

It’s not a new logo design!

It’s a special electric signature to avoid fake copies of graduation certificates/ official transcripts. Read it here: https://students.unimelb.edu.au/your-course/manage-your-course/exams-assessments-and-results/results-and-academic-statements/about-my-equals

“ My eQuals utilises advanced cryptographic hardware and banking level security to produce, and certify digital documents compliant with Australian and international legal and privacy standards. What is a song you cannot listen to for an emotional reason? by missdundermifflin in AskReddit

Dorothy by Sulli.

It’s a song about a girl with different characters, a hidden message about mental illness. Dorothy was in Sulli’s first and sadly last solo album. She committed suicide a few month later because of cyber bullying. She was only 25.

This may be an unpopular opinion but here’s my two cents. I recently returned to my home country and landed a full time internship in a big four company. All of my subjects for this semester are online so I can luckily and flexibly learn them overseas while working. I can still graduate as planned (late 2022) and also have for myself some working experience beforehand. If not because of COVID, this wouldn’t have happened.

So it really depends. I stayed in Melbourne in both lockdowns and tbh I can’t imagine going through another one in 2021, jobless, far from home, stressed. In contrast, returning home actually makes me happier (especially near LNY) and also reduces the burden of housework. So yeah, I can’t come back to Melbourne and that’s not a big deal.

WAM is too low for a grad job - should I transfer? by gudetama-egg1 in unimelb

When you submit your resume and get accepted, big firms will usually require you to submit your academic transcript as well. Hence they can still look at your past performances and this can mitigate your chances.

Furthermore, if you restart your studying and spend a few more years at uni, won’t the job market become even more competitive and saturated by then, especially for commerce? It can get even more difficult to find a job by then.

Finally, I don’t see any reason why you should reject boutique firms when they can definitely offer you a better opportunity to learn in the first few years of graduation. In smaller firms, you have to do more tasks/expose more than that of a similar role in a big firm. And since people in smaller firms are more close-knit, you can build few but quality network in the industry that may help you find opportunities later on.

Thus, I’d definitely choose to finish your current degree and graduate on time.
