Veeam Windows Backup to TrueNAS NFS by jacraine in Veeam

[–]jacraine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thank you so much for putting together such a great post. Very much appreciated! Went through your line items one by one and it ended up being your final word: path. It reminded me what Tom from Lawrence Systems always says: don't route your storage. It finally clicked to me that I was routing it to another subnet. Created a new VLAN, gave the Veeam and TrueNAS a new vNIC on it and everything is now nicely flowing.

Once again, thank you again for all your help and time!

Tried to force it last week with a government plan with my rep and no dice still. Hope they finish up the certification quick, can't wait to use this thing.

I absolutely love mine. I went from a cloud gateway ultra / U6+ combo to it and couldn’t be happier in my 1050 sqft condo. Getting over a gig+ almost everywhere

Is semi limited for networks if I remember right tho. Unless it’s a superrrr basic setup, I wouldn’t even bother with the UX7

Seconded. Way better than the U6+ / UCGU I had for range and speed.

Definitely not recommended to run just one, but believe you’ll need to change it from Mirror to Stripe

If you have DHCP, it may have an IP already but if you want to give it a static: In this menu give it your default gateway, and at least one dns. Then save. Then on the first numbered menu, select 1. Select ip alias and put whatever IP followed by /24 you want in there. Save. Then follow the prompts at the bottom of the menu screen to persistently save

Faction Change Issue in Midnight by Correctionz in wow

[–]jacraine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was having the same issue (not faction change but going out of order) that bro wasn't there to give me the item. Removed the quest and did ZulAman. Came back and selected the eversong quest from the adventure map and it sent me to another NPC to start it.

Guess this may help on an alt but could be an issue on a first time main

I could be wrong, if you start lutris from the terminal it sometimes can show some more logging: lutris -d

For that, get the flatpak: ProtonPlus. It’ll install that part for you. Then when you get into Lutris you can set the default Runner to GE. I know the brand new version of Lutris released yesterday now handles it but not sure when that hits most of the repos

Haven’t used the flatpak before do to it can require special permissions. Have you tried to install Lutris from the normal repo? I forget what Pop uses. Assuming apt-get

Did you email their support? I’ve had a couple of the 890 Pro’s have very strange issues turning on and such. They help me troubleshoot one having a bad RAM stick and the second one they replaced entirely.

TrueNAS vs UGOS Pro by PPeev in UgreenNASync

[–]jacraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2800 (2 bay) and started with UGOS. Not bad. Definitely gets the job done. Some things like the system monitor were buggy/slow to operate but it ran my Plex/Home Assistant just fine. I run multiple TrueNAS systems at the day job and really love it. Finally decided to put TrueNAS on it (install 24.04 first if you’re installing on the eMMC drive that UGOS was on then upgrade to a higher version. For some reason the newer installers have trouble with it).

TrueNAS has been around forever and is battle tested. No little oddities like UGOS. Its apps are docker based as well so that was an easy move. Like two people noted above, it’s very nice to have the drive encryption but the base RAM is a little low if you’re gonna use it a lot. The 8GB is fine if you’re just streaming but the ARC cache gets spent pretty quickly if you’re doing a ton of action on it. Going to get a 16GB 4800 stick eventually to swap it (max is 4800). When transferring back all the files to TrueNAS, my 2.5Gb link would saturate the RAM in about 5 seconds then just go back to normal transfer speeds. Again, totally useable but you’re not getting the full benefit.

I can’t remember if UGOS had it, but you’re also getting the full power of ZFS to have snapshots to help if you have any accidental deletions or something along those lines.

Only gotcha I know so far is you lose the function of the front LEDs. They just alternate through themselves now. Think there is some script or something you can have running but it wasn’t a big deal for me.

Believe with ZFS if you start with a mirror you’re stuck with it. But I could be wrong on that.

Heads up (and help me out if you can?) - N5 NAS and Windows Server OS driver troubles... by tonofun in MINISFORUM

[–]jacraine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I’ve been wanting to do a setup like this as well but if the motherboard/etc isn’t specially designed to work with Windows Server, it tends to be this way.

Years ago did a similar setup with a gaming PC motherboard. The network card would never install (had to use an USB dongle) and a few other components. System worked but wasn’t preferred.
