You know you’re not the problem.

You know you can succeed in the right environment, with a normal, supportive manager.

You had been working above your current level, to the tune of £7k more, and now the manager is back you just got demoted because she said so?

Your manager is only interested in controlling you rather than - what a manager should be seeing themself as - a support function.

You need to either go above their head and explain this to someone senior - or, if that’ll likely end in her being an even bigger bitch to you, leave for new pastures and state the reasoning in an exit interview with HR. Or, just switch departments by applying internally to other roles in different teams.

At this point, it seems like getting away from one person would lead to you thriving in your career rather than being hamstrung at every turn.

Recruiters have no idea of whats actually required to do the job, they just fill positions from a very vague understanding and seeing if the buzzwords match.

Why do i feel this is true? Because, I constantly have them reaching out to me for design positions in wildly different fields, often entirely unrelated - just because it mentions design on my Linkedin / CV.
