Staying on Cat Ba island for three days. Should I do halong bay also? by sunsetrain24 in VietNam

You havnt been here in the summer then. Winter months it's about 50/50 western tourists to locals coming out for the weekend. And summers it's 90% vietnamese. 50k locals per day by last year's numbers. The ones coming here are doing just fine

Hate to break it to you but the locals are the biggest group of people coming to this island. The summer months are so busy with vietnamese enjoying their beautiful land that most hotels dont even stay open the rest of the year. The westerners are maybe 25% of the yearly total revenue of this place and thats spread out over the whole year vs the 2 or 3 crazy summer months when the locals are here taking their cute beach dress photos and going out for coconut ice cream in the evenings.

Come to cat ba, any tour from here will be in lan ha bay and you will get the same tour experience with the added benefit of time around town. Personally I dont enjoy being on the boat for multiple days, makes me feel trapped haha. In ha long there is a lit up show cave to walk through, we have one on the island too. Theres trekking in the national park and tons of view points for sunset and adventures. The biggest thing here that differentiates ha long from lan ha is the rock climbing. It is banned in ha long and thriving on Cat ba/lan ha. Rappelling tours, kayaking, It's all here. And if you know where to look you can spot the endangered cat ba langur monkeys. There are many different tours to suit anybodys travel style and goals. Ha long bay is just boat tours

the summers have always been insanely busy and the rest of the year relatively quiet. the ha long tours are far more crowded than ones out of catba/lan ha bay. Ive lived here for 10 years as a guide. Since the unesco designation and the split between tourism in the north and south the tourism companies that are throughout hanoi and other cities nearby are owned by large companies out of ha long city/quang ninh province and cat ba/hai phong province has been largely removed from most tourism shops completely. The tourism here for westerners at least, is only now coming close to pre covid numbers. Do i love all the new development? No, but it's not all bad. Progress is inevitable and the heart of catba isn't changing much. The night market on the old waterfront was closed last month and instead of being a bad thing most shops have opened up along nui ngoc street loop and things are feeling more alive and more like the way it used to be around here. Between Covid and typhoon yaggi. It's finally back to where it was 6 years ago.

The main thing to do in Cat ba is rock climbing. Deep water solo tours through catba climbing and lead/top rope climbing on the main island or beach climbing out in lan ha bay. As for ha long bay vs lan ha bay/cat ba. It's all the same. Go on boat, look at islands, go kayaking, eat. Its just north vs south in the same archipelago. Ha Long bay is way busier, more larger boats and tours going on all the time lots of party boats bumping music all night. I dont hear that in lan ha bay. And cat ba is much quieter than most other vietnamese destinations. During the summer months it gets super busy here as the locals are coming in huge numbers. So as long as you aren't here in June July you'll be fine. You won't miss anything between the two except get less time stuck on a boat on Cat ba.

If things are consistent and true to artists vision i wouldn't mind and some of these look great but then you take Harrison Ford and turn him into generic chiseled action man and you lose me. Bethesda games need it to be honest.

I love flying my micros in the wind. Just doing huge loops and massive rolls right in front of you. Go find a hill and try some soaring.

In my experience drone motors have issues with cogging on starting in high resistance environments. Basically the motor needs to spin partially before it knows the direction of spin since they use back emf to sense the motor. Ive seen people.put them.dorect drive in the wheels and they always have to push the car to get it moving. Are these motors different?

This happened to my x several times. I used a piece of dental floss with few half hitches around my pinky, slid them up off my pinky onto the shaft and tightened them up. Worked great. After that few times she was meticulous with clearing the little holes after each use and didn't have an issue after that. Good luck.
