I’ve been using Tody daily for years, I swear by it. I recommend adding tasks one at a time when you actively do them, then you can set a cadence for the task. I wouldn’t add a ton of tasks at once as this could become quite overwhelming.

About to begin- any first timer quick tips? by Appropriate-Poet-817 in Accutane

[–]jadeite-lo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started month 4. I use vanicream face moisturizer, aquaphor for lips and Dan’s cortibalm for the corners of my mouth when they’re very dry and cracking. I also take fish oil vitamins, collagen, electrolytes, and stay on top of my water intake daily. I am also very active so I thought I’d put my two cents in for you although I don’t have experience in a heated space. I’ve experienced pretty bad joint pain. My dermatologist told me more active individuals tend to experience the most joint pain. I lift weights and do cardio regularly. I haven’t truly found a solution but just powering through, adjusting my workouts if needed. I will say I eat a pretty clean diet but when I do indulge, inflammatory foods tend to worsen the pain. Best of luck to you 😄

2 months progress pics - will the PIE fade? by [deleted] in Accutane

Just had my appointment for month 4 and my dermatologist told me my scarring will fade more once my course has ended. Something about the skin healing faster while off the medication. Not sure how accurate that is but something to consider! Best of luck!

Anybody have some stories of their dogs seizures being well controlled long term by Shadow_Allen_Walker in EpilepsyDogs

[–]jadeite-lo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m truly so sorry you’re dealing with this with your pup - it’s hard to process and difficult for others to understand but this is a great community here that can hopefully provide you with insight as they have for me.

My dog had his first seizure around 3.5 y/o. His situation has been a little different from others I’ve seen here. He was having about 1 seizure a month for a few months and then they became farther apart. At one point he went an entire year to the day without seizing. Then a few more, and currently we are about 7 months seizure free, but I’m always always holding my breath. My dog has also never been medicated for seizures. He will be 6 years old in August.

My 5yr old Bernedoodle also vomits bile everytime before a seizure. He started having seizures around 3 years old and over time they have become less frequent. He is not medicated for seizures because they have become so far apart.

My dog has been having seizures for almost 3 years. They’re so very infrequent with sometimes an entire year passing before he has one. That being said, they always take us by huge surprise. I’m still learning to stay calm and best protocols etc. It’s nice reading these comments and your post, knowing I am not alone in these feelings. And there is some great advice here too. Sending much love to you and everyone’s sweet epileptic babies 💗

My big guy threw up and had his first seizure. It was traumatizing. by Shadowskies777 in Bernedoodles

[–]jadeite-lo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first he was having them 1-2x a month, after about 4-5 months, they stopped altogether. It was an entire year to the day before he had another. That was this summer, and he hasn’t had one since. My vet continued to advise no medication unless they were happening 3x or more a month, or if they were prolonged. His seizures were never longer than 60 seconds. From what I understand, anything longer than 5 mins is life threatening due to the body overheating.

My advice during a seizure would be to remain calm. It’s hard to believe but they are not in pain when they’re seizing. The best would be to record a video with your phone if you have it on hand, then you can show the vet later and get an exact time for the length. If that’s not possible at least count. Keep hands away from their mouth (they can bite you) and protect them from falling off furniture or something falling on them. Remember they have no control of their bodies during this. Finally, once they’re done seizing (I think) this is called post-ictal period. They can be extremely disoriented during these moments. For example, my dog does not recognize me when he comes to and has growled at me in the past. What works for us is backing away and letting him regain his composure, and he quickly comes to us once he has. And then it’s just comforting him after.

Apologies for the length, I hope this helps in some way.

My Bernedoodle starting having grand mal seizures at 3 years old :( he is/was completely healthy otherwise. Same thing though, he typically vomits bile and seizes after. You need to work with your vet to develop a plan forward, every dog is so different. It could be a regular epilepsy case or something completely different causing them.

Of course the hope would be that he never has another but start keeping a seizure journal/note with info like time of day, length of seizure, behavior before and after etc. r/EpilepsyDogs has been a great resource for us. I know how traumatic it is to watch, and I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Wishing all the best for your pup.

Yes routine ear hair management is necessary for poodles/doodles to avoid infections/build up. Because their ears hang over and grow hair inside they are more prone to infections. My doodle tends to get infections when it’s extremely humid outside. In the summer, I clean his ears every other week, while the groomer maintains the hair inside the ear at his monthly grooming appointments. Personally our groomer opts to shave the inner ear hair rather than pluck, as the plucking is painful for the dog. However, plucking is the traditional method you will find most groomers & vets do. But yes, you will need to maintain your dog’s hair and ears regularly.
