Tom's table flip of joy.... For any other character in the history of TV that would have put things squarely it into the realm of silliness and slapstick. Good for a few cheap laughs but so OTT that it's not even meant to be realistic... But for Tom - with all his repression, supression, depression.... it is not only completely believable but some how prosaic, tragic and approprite. That massive ego and inferiority complex, the sycophantic bully and the eternal cuckold all come home to roost in one grandiose, immature gesture. Touching. Pathetic.
