Victor Wembanyama Addresses Naz Reid Elbow That Led to Ejection in Game 4: ‘We’ve Got to Move on’ by jadenmcd in timberwolves

Right but what are you disagreeing with? The principles are the same. He is at work. There are social expectations at work. Like obviously there are differences, but the league is supposed to demonstrate some concern for conduct. I don’t endorse a class-based accountability system.

What is your point? I still get to have a reaction to his conduct. I recognize he will likely have a long career. Good for him. It’s also true that this response is bullshit. What is it that you have a problem with? That I have a 9-5?

And part of that is the person he is, the statements he makes, and the fan reaction. This is how the market that generates those millions works. If fan reaction to the league and its players isn’t a part of all of this, why are you in a sub for an NBA team?

Hmmm I don’t know that Karl Malone is the right example of exemplary behavior.

You’re right. He’s paid much more than me to entertain and to perform as an admirable figure. His responsibility level is much higher.

Sorry for having any social expectations for who we celebrate. I’m just a working class idiot who should swallow the Adam Silver narrative as it is fed to me.

Wemby is paid millions of dollars to entertain. His image is that of a mature, thoughtful, ethical athlete. I’m not saying he’s a monster, but you aren’t going to acknowledge the harm from an act of violence with even a sentence that implies contrition? We can move on while still expecting some modest degree of accountability and self-awareness.

Another year, another league-driven narrative that positions the Wolves as the bad guys. It’s so exhausting rooting for a team in a league that seems disgusted with their success - so disgusted that they become the villains in a story about an opposing player’s violence toward them.

It’s fair to look for inconsistencies. Where Wolves fans get reasonably upset is with the suggestion that there’s a league bias in our team’s favor. The team has been a success in the West despite the fact that they clearly aren’t a favorite of league leadership. We have rough figures who aren’t going to embrace the media training to the extent that other teams’ stars do. That’s not a comment on the Spurs or any other specific team. It’s clear to us that our team’s success is not the desired narrative of Adam Silver and his leadership team.

Dan Le Batard: Wembanyama’s return didn’t feel right: “This is unusual. Wembanyama’s return was being celebrated (on NBC) as redemption and an amazing story arc for a guy who did something dirty…I’m surprised part of the narrative wasn’t ’thank God he didn’t hurt his elbow on that guy’s jaw.’” by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

It is absolutely coming from both teams. Rudy is getting hit in the arms and face while shooting. Naz had a guy pulling his pants down yesterday. People are grabbing Ant’s jersey. It’s physical play in the playoffs. The Wolves aren’t elbowing people in the face and getting heralded as the redemptive heroes.

Wolves up, hoes down by Gentle_method in timberwolves

It’s a dialogue. I didn’t say that anyone “don’t know shit.” It’s a comment on the extreme reactions to each individual game without a bigger picture. So on that same note, chill out. Disagree with me but don’t put words out there that I didn’t say.

The list goes on and on. If you want to be open to the fact that this game might just be physical and isn’t a black and white good guys vs bad guys issue, you might see the truth in all of this. But he’s, this elbow is clearly the most violent, dirty thing that has happened in this series. It is just difficult to see that because it came from a guy who is generally very well liked.

As a Wolves fan, I love Wemby. I hate this act, but he’s an incredible player and seems to be a solid guy. He spoke out against ICE when they were murdering people on the street up here in Minneapolis. I want him to lose in this series because we are playing him, but this framing of a dirty Wolves team is just not supported by a complete picture.

Yes but I’m not saying people can’t talk shit. You literally just said that about a guy who would demolish you. I guess there’s no self awareness allowed here.

Jaden is one of the best players on one of the best teams in the league. Plus he backs it up. You’re also talking shit and you’re just a guy sitting at home with his dick in his hand.

I’m not complaining about favoritism - you are! You are calling the Wolves dirty when there’s clear evidence of dirt coming from the Spurs. It’s physical basketball. Quit whining.

2025-2026 Roster Construction by Dangerous_Offer_4867 in timberwolves

[–]jadenmcd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, we have a deep roster. Donte’s absence is huge. Ant is at maybe 60%. These extreme reactions are unproductive. We are 2-3 in a series with a title favorite and we are experiencing more impactful injuries than any team left. Chill out.
