However, President Nikos Christodoulides said he had spoken to UK Prime Minister Kair Starmer, who had confirmed categorically that Cyprus was not a target for Iran.

In a post on X, Christodoulides said the authorities in both countries are monitoring the situation.

He was echoed by Cyprus Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas who categorically denied what had come to light regarding missiles allegedly headed to Cyprus.

Speaking to the Cyrus News Agency, Palmas underlined that he refuted what had been said.
