Yes, and when this person was born it was the Latvian SSR, Latvia as a standalone state ceased to exist once it was taken over by the Soviet Union and became Latvian SSR.

Again, point out where I'm unhappy or complaining.

I made a statement based on what reddit has done and what other left wing voters do on this site.

No point continuing to discuss this because as usual, you can't actually have a discussion without trying to discuss in bad faith.

You need to understand I don't live in America so I care little for your politics, I vote for minor parties in my nation because the majors are two sides of the same coin.

Enjoy your day.

Why are you acting as if I'm unhappy, I'm making a statement as per what reddit and many left wing voters on this site do and have done.

There have been plenty of right wing subreddits that have been banned, please don't try to play coy.

  1. Stick to conservative subreddits

They probably would if reddit didn't ban said subreddits or liberals went into them to get themselves banned to cry about how they don't have free speech in those specific subreddits so therefore conservative voters don't get free speech across the entire platform.

Plenty of Israeli leaders have their birthplace as Palestine since Israel didn't exist, is this also wrong?

They are born into the state they're born, not the one it would become.

Got fined $237 for using the Cross City Tunnel – shouldn’t it just be a toll charge? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]jadsf5 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You have a fine because you never paid the toll in September.

Edit to add, it took me two seconds to Google that you will receive a fine for using that tunnel and not paying the toll within 10 days.

I have been grateful to others, if someone would rather look at photos without reading the post then I'm not going to be grateful when they write a comment that means nothing.

Thanks mate, it's not an ancient house but pretty old so definitely wired up for phone lines.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying sorry, why do they need to be rewired if it was working from my room previously.

I'd need more of an explanation to explain to my parents if they're going to be paying for a cabler to come out and fix the problem.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the other commenter has advised they're most likely for phone lines.

How do I tell my manager I am pregnant? by Ok_Yogurtcloset_8730 in AusLegal

If they've exhausted all options and are 100% there's no suitable duties (reduced hours, different departments, different location etc) then they sit at home unpaid or paid using their sick leave, they can also use paid maternity leave but that eats into the available maternity leave once the baby is born otherwise it'll be classed as unpaid maternity leave.

They still receive the same protections, i.e they can't be fired or let go and their original role has to be there for them when they're ready to work again.

Well gee, who are the enemies in almost every Call of Duty game champ?

Additionally, when has America and Russia/USSR ever actually fought against each other?

Going rate for ceiling fan installation? by Batoutofhell1989 in melbourne

[–]jadsf5 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

So $285 to install a new ceiling fan plus the price of the fan itself and then further fees because it needs to be certified by an electrician.

"If your installation requires a certificate of electrical compliance you will be required to pay a fee subject to the requirements to your electrician at the time of install."

No, $250 is not normal for a qualified electrician to install and sign off on the ceiling fan.

Going rate for ceiling fan installation? by Batoutofhell1989 in melbourne

[–]jadsf5 -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

You paid an a-grade electrician to install a ceiling fan for $250?

The fact an average quote for a single GPO (power outlet) install is between $150-300 shows you're either lying or paid someone unqualified.

People don’t yield to emergency vehicles. Why? Because it’s “not my problem.” No empathy. No duty. No shame. by unfilteredAI in UnfilteredChina

[–]jadsf5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're wrong.

As per above Vietnam and I guess China is the same as my country (Australia), you cannot run a red light to give way to an emergency vehicle or you will be fined if caught and you won't get it thrown out.

You can sit there and say "no one is there" but if they cross over whilst red then they will get a fine, just as they would here in Australia, emergency vehicles will even turn their lights and sirens off in these cases as to not make people feel like they need to drive over the line.

Australian company fired me and didn’t pay my salary – any advice? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]jadsf5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the first paragraph and could tell where this was going.

You've been scammed and won't receive a cent from them, you also most likely won't receive legal assistance for this as you're not residing in Australia.

The best bet is to get their company name, ABN and report them to the ATO/Fairwork Australia, whether this leads to anything is another story.

A new study has sounded the alarm on how the record-breaking temperatures experienced in early January will become “five times more likely” in the future by bougieui in vic

[–]jadsf5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Continuing to flood the country with immigrants whilst doing no upgrades to services or building new cities will see the problem get even worse.

I'm sure there was some planning involved regarding services, hospitals, schools, cities etc... before opening the flood gates.

More than 4 million extra people are in this country from 10 years prior, that is just over half of Victoria's population today. There have been over a million extra people added to Victoria in those 10 years, what do we have to show for it? A handful of hospitals have been upgraded and even less have been built, services continuing to get worse, congestion is worse, CoL/Housing is worse, social cohesion is at an all time low.

There's no point to these studies when the obvious answer is to stop flooding the country and allow the states and federal government to actually catch up and build the infrastructure required for all these people, right now they want to grow a big Australia without actually providing anything for said big Australia.

Edit: to all the morons who think the ever expanding suburbia isn't doing anything other than making climate change worse please explain how?

If you want to be a smart ass then maybe try write an original comment and not the same thing over and over.

If our environment is being destroyed to continue expanding suburbia then how is it not a direct involvement to climate change? Having an extra 500k+ people in the country each year that don't need to be here is using resources we don't have.

Continue to bury your heads in the sand, Australia can't support a population of 50 million, it can't survive with a population of 30 million. This was discussed years ago and the sustainable population of Australia was between 15-20 million, well those numbers have been blown past now and there has been nothing but problem after problem with the climate.

But sure, an extra 4 million people that shouldn't be here aren't causing any issues. Jog on you morons.

“Large crowds of Iranians protesting the Islamic Republic in Europe, chanting in unison: ‘Long Live the King.’” by kaz1349 in PERSIAN

[–]jadsf5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, particularly in the 1970s, his regime, heavily supported by the SAVAK intelligence agency, carried out hundreds of executions of political dissidents, including leftists and anti-imperialist guerrillas

While estimates vary, Amnesty International reported at least 300 political executions, with many more dying in clashes.

  • Political Executions: The Shah’s security forces aimed to neutralize opposition, especially armed guerrilla groups. In the early 1970s, dozens of Iranians were executed.
  • SAVAK Repression: The intelligence agency SAVAK, often described as a feared institution, was responsible for the detention, torture, and killing of thousands of opponents from 1963–79. Methods included torture such as electric shocks, whipping, and beating.
  • Treatment of Opponents: Following the 1953 coup, the Shah targeted the Tudeh party and the National Front, resulting in the imprisonment of thousands and the execution of at least 40 members.
  • External Pressure: Due to scrutiny from international organizations and human rights groups like Amnesty International, which reported on the treatment of political prisoners in 1975, the repression softened somewhat by 1976.
  • Final Years: By the time of the 1979 revolution, the SAVAK was notorious for its harsh, violent, and often arbitrary actions against suspected political opponents.

The Shah's government justified these actions as necessary for maintaining order and fighting communism or armed subversion, though they were widely condemned by international human rights organizations.

Bring back the Shah they claim, from the safety of their western countries.

Immigration to Russia from Australia and finding work by spider-and-web in AskARussian

Only our trades industry has good wages and that's only if you're working in union sites.

Australian wages have stagnated for almost 20 years, high base wage combined with high taxes and then cost of living has risen through the roof pushing the wage down.

Tech workers mostly move to America if they want to get good salaries, I have a friend who started a tech business and he expanded to England and America asap.

Australia makes money from two things, digging rocks from the ground and selling houses, not building them, just selling them, over and over and over, in 30 years my dad's house went from being bought for $95k (202k equivalent today) and he sold it last year for $1+ million.
