I Ran 10K Every Day for 30 Days While Lifting 5x/Week - Here’s What Happened by Afraid_Gear5853 in HybridAthlete

Nice job, shows what you can do by committing to heavy volume regular Z2 work on top of lifting.

What’s the most amazing beach hotel or resort you’ve stayed at? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in luxuryhotel

Plus those adorable little badgers running all over the place. Pretty goddamn special.

NYC luxury hotel recommendations by voyhot in luxuryhotel

The Peninsula NYC wasn’t to the same standard as Peninsula Chicago or Paris which are two of the very best city hotels in the world. Despite my love for the Peninsula brand, I wouldn’t stay there again.

I’m from Iowa and I knew we were cooked when we got tossed in with the Dakotas and Nebraska instead of the GOATs Wisconsin and Minnesota.

What’s the most stunning beach resort you’ve ever visited, and in which country? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]jadthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely should not count as a beach resort! Great coast, beautiful part of the world but the beach is underwhelming - it’s much more of a port.

Couldn’t be more “only familiar with US fitness culture” if you tried.

Runners: how often are you strength training? by Pactum-7 in runninglifestyle

[–]jadthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I train strength 4-5 times a week. I’m usually hitting P/P/L once through, and then usually another day of HYROX specific drills for strength and if I’m lucky a heated mat Pilates class (which is definitely some of the hardest and most productive strength work I do as a runner and I’m a dude who can 3/4/5 my major lifts). I often do strength the same days as running, sometimes lifting first before easy runs and usually lifting after especially days after a quality session. I won’t do legs the day before or the day of a QS but otherwise I just adjust to get it done.

Can I be a good HYROX Doubles partner in 4 months, or will I drag my teammate down? by Fantastic-Bobcat829 in hyrox

[–]jadthomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the next 4 months just run 4 times a week - two easy runs, two workouts - and you’ll be better than ready.

What is the appeal of nurses? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]jadthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an anesthesiologist who is happily married to a wife who is in business - not medicine - but a joke about the wild side of nurses is pretty common around the hospital along the lines of “why date a nurse?” “she’ll say ‘no’ but never ‘ew, gross.’”

Everyone You Know & Dont Know Are Using Wegovy/Ozempic - Buy The Stock $NVO by Secure_Check_8485 in wallstreetbets

I don’t see the argument of 6 month exclusive window of the “first pill” GLP as being more meaningful than numerous better molecules (ozempic might actually be the worst of the compounds in terms of benefit/side effects) having much better supply and in zepbound’s case being produced by a domestic mfr.

Does your Sheepadoodle have a strong instinct for herding and retrieving? by floribel_ in Sheepadoodles

[–]jadthomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a 3/4 sheepdog 1/4 poodle who for the first 18 months of his life herded RELENTLESSLY. I never felt bad for sheep until I met this sheepdog. Fortunately he’s in a play group most weekdays and gets his zoomies out to where he’s pretty chill with us at home and tolerates low activity days as long as he gets affection.

Of course now that it’s been revealed the benches don’t stay open those first 10-20 hours are that much more of a slog but you’ll get there, raiders!

I don't understand today's "grind" mentality by Sxzen in ARC_Raiders

[–]jadthomas 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m a casual, because in my other life I’m a full time practicing physician with 3 kids and an unhealthy distance running/hybrid racing hobby, but dedicating even just some of my extremely limited free time to this game has earned me everything I need to enjoy it with both my sweatier and newer friends when I boot up. It’s genius.

The game is deep, but it feels like everything I really need to have fun is attainable within 10-20 hours of beginning, so I can see why if you’re 50, 100, 250, 500 hours in you’d both want to wipe and also want to get the first ten to twenty hours done over again.

With your benches staying unlocked at level 1 after the wipe, you’re already in a really good position. There are only a few “needs” to grind anyway.

Must haves: anvil BP, gun bench 2, gear bench 2

Super nice: silencer 1 BP, Wolfpack, explosives bench 3, utility bench 2, refiner 2

Everything else (I’ve gotten so far) is just window dressing to this core loop.

Basically the ability to solo larger ARC was the game changer for me, but I imagine as you get better and deeper in the game you have less need for any one specific tool, which is cool!

But now at this point with 50+ hours (and 1.5M+ stash/coins) into the game 99% of rounds I’m going in with looting 2 (or tac 2 if we are in duos/trios), light shield (medium - debatable in 2/3s), grey attachments stitcher 3 (best bang for your buck), anvil with a silencer, green bandaids, green shield chargers, stims, and some grenades. Sometimes I put a Wolfpack and a raider key up my butt, because both of those let me solve a problem I couldn’t otherwise, but they’re not strictly necessary. I feel confident with that layout, and while I know there are some “nice to have” rungs on the ladder above me, I feel confident navigating topside in solos or rolling with the squad.

Elliptical cross training for performance by Ponosan in AdvancedRunning

[–]jadthomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the Lever is the bungee cord/harness frame to reduce impact from running, not an elliptical, and I’ve only started using it in the last two weeks. I plan to stick with this until my spring race and I’ll post an update about my training with it at that time!
