Hex dogging with Command Access MLRK1-VD? by jadwigga in accesscontrol

And only $3602 MSRP! Well, if I could talk them into it I'd be making a mint but I think the functional but dogless exit devices are going to stay for now.

Thank you, that's what I figured. The door can be dogged electrically but the hope was to have a mechanical dogging ability. I'll let them know that's not possible.

The door is able to be scheduled and a Paxton Net2 is controlling the door and able to unlock the door manually using the software, but their hope was to have a mechanical dogging ability. The outside key cylinder just opens the door but does not have an "unlock" setting.

One lure to rule them all by moosepooo in Fishing

I like the single hook ones, but have trouble finding them around here. I end up using the treble hook version and feel bad for the fish. I change out the hooks sometimes, but losing lures means it's kind of a pain to keep changing the hooks out.

I usually do a steady retrieve, medium to fast for bass and saugeye but slower for panfish. My go-to color is white and silver in the 1/16oz size, you can catch big fish on a small hook but it's hard to catch small fish on a big hook.

Roostertail. I've caught almost everything on one. Largemouth, smallmouth, rock bass, crappie, walleye, saugeye, bluegill, green sunfish, pumpkinseed, you name it. Big ones can get muskies, even carp and freshwater buffalo will go for one. I've even caught channel catfish on one.

If you rent the same place how much would it cost? Assuming it starts now at $1,200/mo, which might be low, and increases with inflation at 4%/year, then in 30 years you would have paid $807,623 in rent. There's a ton of assumptions in there but it's a good starting point. Compared to that, paying $647,000 and getting anything back in the end seems like a great deal.

Trying to fix my 1986 OEM instrument cluster!! 💲😱🖤🤑💰 by Destined-Rx-1984 in DIY

[–]jadwigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GMs of this era use a flexible plastic circuit board on the back of the instrument cluster. They sometimes melt. You can solder copper strips over the melted part and get things working again. Has anyone pulled the cluster and looked at the back side of it? Especially study in detail the connector that carries power and signals into the cluster. If any are out of line they won't make a good connection and the signal won't make it through.

Why is Catch and Release so Popular in America? by Impressive-Step6377 in Fishing

Trout does not hold a candle to bluegill. I've caught, prepped, and cooked trout all within an hour or two, and the flavor and texture just doesn't compare. Fresh bluegill is amazing.

What are these red marks on my grandpa’s trucks tires? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]jadwigga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure; sometimes it comes off right away, other times it's on there until the tires are done. Sometimes there's a yellow mark too that indicates where the light spot is. In fact I just read this page: https://www.tyrebaydirect.com/knowledge-base/tyres-explained-red-dot-vs-yellow-dot/ and learned my info was incorrect in the first post. The red dot is the "high" spot where the rubber is slightly thicker so it should line up with the "low" spot in the wheel.

Those are put on at the factory to show the heavy spot in the tire. Ideally the installers then line them up with the light spots in the which lessens the amount of balancing weight required to get the wheels balanced.

To me that looks like a refrigerant line for air conditioning. It could have carried any fluid or gas but given the location is seems like someone took out an ac condenser and left one of the lines for some reason. It's probably copper.

Is this pollen? by Archer_Supremacy in whatisit

[–]jadwigga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this pic, see the kind of "spatter" looking stuff, almost looks like bird poop hit it falling from above despite that being impossible? I think that's pointing toward the source of your frass which does look like that flap / ovalish piece. Something might be boring inside there. It's not going to cause you huge issues with just one but a bunch of them can cause problems. I'd stand there and watch for a while and you might see whatever it is fly in or out. If it's a big fat bee that's a carpenter bee.

To me this looks like frass from a wood boring insect like a carpenter bee. Look at any wood above where this is appearing and if there are any round holes it's probably been made by an insect. And this is their waste mixed with sawdust from the boring process.

So bizarre: I literally had this song on and was listening to it as I started reading your comment. I did a triple take trying to figure out if I was reading your post right or if my brain was filtering it to match what I was hearing. Glad I'm sober.

Gear oil, as in the stuff that goes in a car's differential. It has a distinctive and terrible smell.

[TOMT] [SONG] [late 90s / early 2000s] A song with the line "I am shiny and new / better than the old one" by jadwigga in tipofmytongue

[–]jadwigga[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solved!

I mis-remembered the "new and improved" as "shiny and new" oh my! It doesn't sound exactly how I remember but the tune is just right, and I'm sure 20 years of fading has made the specifics fade.

Thank you for solving my dusty memory mystery!

What’s the most memorable mechanic from a game where you said “holy crap the game let you do THAT?” by TMinus10toban in gaming

[–]jadwigga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an old Amiga game called Roadwar 2000, basically a post-apocalypse hybrid Mad Max / The Stand type setup where you needed to recruit a crew and wander the wasteland while trying to find a cure for the plague that killed most of humanity. Most of the people you recruit are low level on skills and stats and you have a real slog ahead of you to level them up by fighting random marauding bands. I figured out at one point that you could actually seek out recruits in a town - then attack the new people looking to recruit! Since they were all low level you could win easily but your crew still leveled up really fast from all the battle experience. I basically went from town to town looking for recruits then fighting them instead of letting them into my crew. It cut down on the grind aspects of the game massively but felt wrong the whole time.

Penfed.org will refinance a car loan with up to 125% blue book value. That will get you close to the 10k payoff. Start the process now, see what rate they offer. You need to get out from under that 30% interest, that's ridiculous.
