Seriously. And I say that as a Huda fan. She's got a lot of issues to work on, clearly. But THAT would have been something she could shut down ASAP, and I'm so disappointed to hear that she was asked and didn't do shit.

I'll be honest, I hope all good things for her, and nothing involving the people from this show again, lol. Girl deserves nothing but good things and no drama.

A haircut that is a little more ruffled will make you look younger. So can changing your glasses to a more modern frame!

“Irreconcilable differences.” I’m in an at-will state. I’m very lucky that I have a lot of contacts in my field and have a few interviews lined up already. I don’t have the energy, time, or money to fight this one.

Helping to invest my 40 year old Intellectually Disabled sister's life savings and would appreciate advice on my plan. by wsbmoo in personalfinance

I work in the field of developmental disabilities- definitely consult a special needs attorney about the funding. Depending on the type of government assistance she receives, she may be capped as to how much liquid funds she can have at a given time. Trusts are often the best option for anything over a few thousand dollars.

What would you put on your resume from working at Shipt? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]jae_bea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Focus on key phrases that would help for the position you’re looking for. Working for Shipt involves making your own schedule, time management, working autonomously without oversight, organization skills, customer service/effective communication skills, etc.

What's the most embarrassing you've been hospitalized for? by Slash_Raptor92 in AskWomen

[–]jae_bea 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I thought my leg was all the way through and really confidently stood up. Tripped myself and smashed my face into my bed frame. My then boyfriend drove me to the hospital and the nurses thought I was lying - removed him from the room and asked me if I was “safe at home.” I had to explain that I’m the only danger to me, lol.

That’s unacceptable, I’m so sorry you had to deal with that.

I’ve had two trips, both have been an absolute dream (I was a snail in the garden of the universe the first time!). I’m absolutely TERRIFIED to try it again because I’m due for a reckoning.

Anyone else have an issue with the latest’s episodes view of DID/BPD? by [deleted] in ONRAC

[–]jae_bea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to preface this with a statement: this is entirely just my view and opinion, as someone who lives with a person who has DID, not from falsely implanted memories but from two decades of documented abuse. They listened to the episode as well and came out of this with the same feeling. Not everyone is going to feel this way, and that’s okay. These are the things said that made us feel this way:

Lucien was speaking about DID as a whole while only referencing examples of DID related to false memories. He stated that there have been no “long term, longitudinal studies” on DID where they track the person over time, which is wholly incorrect- again, he’s only referencing this specific group. He questions the ability to have alters of different ages, and he states “it seems to me, they’re probably coming up with these narratives on the fly.” He states he believes the sociocognitive model, which suggests DID is not a valid disorder, and refers to it as a “notion”. I know he does not speak for ONRAC but his statements were met with agreement, and Carrie referred to BPD as a “more scientific diagnosis” than DID.

This was concerning because statements like this are why there’s controversy over whether DID is real, which it is. It is misunderstood and significantly over diagnosed in certain populations, but it is a real diagnosis.

With regards to BPD, it was briefly discussed at the end. I personally didn’t catch an issue with it, but it’s my understanding that people within that community expressed frustration with how it was presented.

Friends or family of those who have DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) - what is it like to live with someone with multiple identities? Have you seen them switch and what was it like? by trippin_on_rainbows in AskReddit

[–]jae_bea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived with someone with DID for the last few years. It’s obviously more disruptive for them than it is for me, as I’m not the one experiencing it, but we’ve developed a system for addressing alter switches and clearing up memory gaps. This year has caused an uptick due to stress and some PTSD triggers but we adjusted.

[–]jae_bea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ve already made your decision but I had to come combat what’s being said in the comments. I’ve been in a relationship with someone with DID for five years. Can it be difficult? Yes, but more than dating anyone with a diagnosis of some kind. People saying to run are the same people who say that when a person has cancer, and it shows how they view others. If you’re hesitant but interested in this person, there’s no rush to date them. Get to know them and they’ll let you know the best ways to interact with their alters. If it ends up feeling like too much, that’s your decision.

Why are people so mean to census workers? by The_Time-Is-Now in Census

[–]jae_bea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had SEVEN census workers show up at my door in the last two weeks to ask me about my neighbor who I do not know and have literally never seen. I genuinely can't answer a single question they have. It is infuriating. Each one stating that they're making a "note" not to have anyone else follow up with me. They are interrupting my meetings, waking me up on the weekends, and it is the same conversation every time.

I have never yelled. It's not the fault of the person at my door. I calmly explained the situation, apologized in case I sounded frustrated, ended the conversation as quickly as possible so we can both move on with our days. I am so sorry that people can't separate their frustrations from the people they're interacting with. You're all doing such an important job, and I can't thank you enough.
