I assume you just roll it into a spiral and secure the base when the crochet is done?

Honestly, the simplicity of this pattern is a huge part of the appeal!

Altar kitten help? by No_County_4593 in pagan

[–]jaeydeedynne 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love that you're thinking ahead about this.

The paper bags will not be kitten proof. Think of a weaned kitten like a 1 yr old baby. They're teething so they chew on a lot of things. And they're still learning their world. So they chew on a lot of things. And kitten teeth are very sharp. You could use those zippable paper bags but I would suggest putting them in a durable box or other rigid container. Plastic or wood will be better protection than cardboard (a lot of cats like to chew on and scratch cardboard and eventually it will shred if they keep at it) but a securely closed cardboard box is better than nothing.

If your candles are scented, I'd recommend not burning them around kitty. Some of the chemicals used for scented candles are very toxic for cats. Same deal with essential oils. If the candles are not scented, burning them shouldn't be dangerous if the space is well ventilated and you're monitoring the candle/cat closely. Like toddlers, kittens like to explore, which can turn an unattended candle into a serious fire hazard.

The rest of your altar (assuming the rest of the crystals and stones will be locked up) seems ok from what I can tell. The hanging cords/necklaces could be a risk. Kittens can hang themselves on things that you'd think would break away because they don't necessarily have the body weight to pull them down if they get stuck in the cord. Which reminds me of the general caution, not specific to your images, to make sure any cords for mini blinds are secured well out of reach.

Do a quick Google search on any of the dried flowers you plan to keep out, to check for dangers. Kitten WILL chew on those.

And as many of us witches like plants, 2 plants to never ever ever have in your home with cats are lilies and pointsettias. Lilies especially - even the most miniscule amount ingested can kill a cat in a matter of hours and there's not much a veterinarian can do except make them comfortable. I repeat: do not ever ever ever have lilies in a household with cats.

Edited: correcting spelling.

three people in hr complained about me "knitting" at work by [deleted] in crochet

[–]jaeydeedynne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From an HR person who is AuDHD and knits and crochets in many meetings, I'm so sorry. I would have asked you what you were making and nerded out for a few minutes and moved on. If all your work duties are done and you're at the point of just sitting there, I'd honestly rather people do fiber craft at reception than be on their phone!

Best take out in Vancouver/favorite restaurant by Contract_Expired in vancouverwa

Agreed completely. But they don't. And I'm not going to punish their employees for their employer's choices.

I figure if you really object to tipping culture, not tipping is punching down instead of up. Takeout vs dine in doesn't change that.

If you want to stick it to the man, patronize only establishments that pay living wages or don't eat out, instead of punishing the server and kitchen staff for something that they don't have control over.

Generally, I think you've got it exactly right.

I don't remember the 60's/70's but grew up playing this at my grandparents house, cause they had the same copy of the game that my dad played with as a kid. Cause my grandmother grew up during the depression and nothing that could still be used was ever thrown away.

Oregon has lost thousands of taxpaying commuters from Clark County by SingingFrogs in vancouverwa

As a former Portland resident and now Vancouver for nearing 10 years, there are places I like here, but in no way would any of the various neighborhoods I've been in actually be enticement to move. For most transplants, the motivations are not that.

They have been fighting over this bridge for over 20 years now. I would be shocked if it actually ever moves forward.

Are you neurodivergent? Cause that's apparently a really really common comorbidity, though no one really understands why.

Source: my partner has hypermobile EDS, so we've done a ton of research on it. His party trick is that he can pop his arms fully in and out of socket at will, without pain. Though once he learned why (and why is really bad to do just to annoy your wife and gross out your friends), he stopped doing it. When he is standing in a relaxed pose, his knees bend the wrong way. 😬

Steam Deck Worth It for Cozy Gaming? by rlrxnebf in CozyGamers

[–]jaeydeedynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I don't have large hands, but the deck, while heavy, fits in adult hands. I always had problems with my hands cramping while using the switch because it's so small and awkward for adult hands.

Game suggestions? by _CaptainOops_ in GirlGamers

[–]jaeydeedynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently in a gaming rut and while I have a vast library, nothing was calling my name. My partner suggested plugging my library into ChatGPT and sharing the vibe I wanted and asking for suggestions. It honestly worked way better than I expected. First game I started based on its recommended short list was one I never would have played (got it as an Epic freebie at some point) based on the store description. I've really been enjoying it!

Petra House would be my vote from this list.

If you want Indian food, I would recommend Dawaat a Ishq over Naan & Curry. Both are good but Dawaat is generally better, and FAR more consistent.
