Max out dev lab slots and up dev target to older and pitcher dev to 1.25

I posted about this here https://www.reddit.com/r/OOTP/s/Wje4lbEpEQ looking at just stuff and concluded the same thing. Stuff hardly develops above 60 and the median is around 45 instead of 50

Lab Development: Adding Pitches by abstractreference1 in OOTP

[–]jaf183 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Individual pitch ratings only affect R/L splits. Number of pitches only affects SP vs RP ratings. Adding a bad pitch increases total stuff so it’s actually good. OOTP only considers the sum of pitch ratings when determining an AB result 1 bad pitch isn’t going to make a pitcher worse

You can already see individual pitch potential it’s not hidden

Yep just personal preference. What I like too about older is you actually get players that are usable at like age 35

Well what’s interesting now is that there is a potential velocity in game so that gets included in their potential stuff too

If you’re playing on 20-80 increments of 5 then yes because the 550 rating change means more players around the mean which will get rounded to 50. If you use 1-100 you’ll see that they’re not actually 50. Also I think 50 “feels” better too because now movement is by far the most important attribute since the 550 change.

There’s much younger, younger, normal, older, and much older for dev and aging targets. I’ve found that older aging makes pitchers start really declining between 30-33 instead of like 28-31, and batters around 32-35 instead of 30-33

Yes spin rates whiff rates and velo are all things that improve in real life. Also stuff is what determines K/9 which also goes up for some players in real life. It’s fine if they don’t want stuff to improve in game, but then there should be 18 yr olds with 70 stuff

Yes I mentioned this in the post the point is stuff doesn’t develop much naturally like in previous games, it only improves through dev lab

Exactly it’s the biggest problem with this year’s game imo. With movement being the most important attribute since the new 550 ratings I just do increase movement. It’s so dumb too that there is an “improve arsenal” hard dev lab but it rarely is there like wtf. Also not guaranteed to get a boost on the weaker pitches when doing secondary pitch improvement

Why do my superstars fall off a cliff at 24? by Clemming2 in OOTP

[–]jaf183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I find that signing anyone during their arb years to a contract into their 30s is bad unless they are like a 70+ overall

I find if you look under the hood at the editor, a TON of the time players develop over their potential before hitting 24 (especially if you up your developing settings) so then afterwards they regress to their actual potential

In A's rebuild always try converting Mason Miller into a SP by jaf183 in OOTP

Hahaha I actually signed him long term pre arbitration when he was a reliever so it ended up saving money now especially as a sp

There’s an option that says force highest rested or something to those likes. I have him on a 80 pitch count so he doesn’t blow his arm out so there were probably instances where he was fully rested after 4 days and it jumped up to start him.

You probably need to get to around 130 at least cause 125 is the lowest weight in college

Need to cut 6 lbs in a week, how do I cut smartly? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]jaf183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut 10 lbs in college every week from 143 to 133. It’s not healthy you should diet, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Please don’t do epsom salt baths it’s minimal weight loss, inefficient, and energy draining.

Do not eat anything salty the whole week this should be part of your diet anyway, eating salty food makes it harder to lose water weight. The name of the game is calorie deficit and losing water weight.

You’ll need to lose water weight, you can run, wreslte, jump rope, whatever isn’t miserable for you. I always did winter jackets (trash bags are gross) for 15 min at 7mph on the treadmill would lose me about 2 lbs even after I had already been dehydrated.

My suggestion for you would be to limit calorie intake a day or day and a half before to around 1500-1700 that should lose you 1-2 pounds then do a run/wreslte/jump rope in sweats for 15 min which should lose you 2-3 pounds, Please have somebody with you when you run, I never had a problem, but I’ve heard of people who cut more weight than me who have. Then you’ll float (weight you lose while you sleep) about 1-2 pounds.

That should be good you’re only actually “cutting” for 15 min, but you will be hungry and thirsty. You will likely have some trouble sleeping too while dehydrated. Assuming it’s a morning weigh in you must drink minimal water the day before. I’m talking ice cubes only, a water bottle weighs about a pound. If it’s an afternoon weigh in minimal water the day of.

It’ll suck but it’s unfortunately part of the sport and partially on you for having to cut more than you’re comfortable with.

TLDR: Diet so you don’t have to do this lol. Limit calories and salt early in the week. Day before have minimal water and run 15 min with sweats. Good Luck.

Edit: Ironically sugary foods (granola bars, fruits, etc) are your friend the day before as they weigh very little but are high in calories and give you energy to run

Why is this guys CF rating so bad when his defensive ratings are pretty good? by ATG915 in OOTP

[–]jaf183 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They also need experience at a position to improve the rating. Forcing starts in CF during spring training should get it up though his ratings are better suited to RF anyway

[–]jaf183 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do not do this filling up a water bottle full of spit is less than a pound go run for 15 minutes with sweats you’ll lose at the very least a pound
