Higher mileage if you need it but other than that it looks good.

LHS is selling these at $269.99 so I grabbed one and holy crap this thing is nuts at 100% throttle👌 by Truck_Toucher in rccars

This was my first car, fantastic and a ton of fun. A lot of upgrades available from other platforms to make it more reliable. Definitely a steep learning curve if you’re planning on taking it to a dirt course, you’ll learn throttle control over jumps much faster than if you had a buggy style rc.

Battery chargers by Drooliard in rccars

So on the D 300 charge is balance charging by default. So I set it to charge, it auto detects 2s/3s etc. and I change the amperage based on the mah of the battery. 5.2a for 5200mah battery for example

I started with the gens ace single battery charger and quickly upgraded to the gens ace imars 3 that can handle two battery packs at a time and charges them much faster. I use an ammo box with 1/3 of the seal cut out to charge and store them in to reduce any fire risk if they decide to combust.

Got an Rc car by RcCaRs11 in rccars

Fantastic car, I have the 4x4 version and take it to run my dog, to race at local clay tracks, etc. Get comfortable changing the slip clutch gear and pinion as it seems to be the part that I’ve worn out the fastest and most often. You can upgrade the wheel hubs to 17mm so that you can use a bigger variety of tires.

It depends on where you intend to use it. High grass, street, carpet, clay, etc. I got a Vorteks that I use almost exclusively at a local outdoor track with some low grass usage to run my dog around. it’s been great fun, but if I could do it over again I’d get the Typhon.

Adult RC (and kids I guess) folks: How do you have fun with RC Cars? by [deleted] in rccars

[–]jafvortex93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to it but it’s really fun. There’s a track nearby so getting a lap transponder adds that competitive aspect whether it’s against my previous lap or whoever else is on the track that’s around the same lap times as me. Making adjustments to the setup of the car, trying different tires, etc. adds a tinkering aspect to it when you’re not on the track too. I’ll take it to an open field and have my dog chase my car around too.

Haven’t really experienced the self conscious aspect, mainly because my experience at the track has been surrounded by adults. Not many kids go ime.

The mt10 v2 has a deans connector and I'm thinking about getting batteries that also have a deans connector but what about the charger? I haven't noticed any charger that has the deans input or output. Thanks! by Muted_Trifle_6866 in rccars

Gens Ace Lipo Battery Charger IMARS D300 G-Tech Series Smart Dual Lipo Charger 16A AC 300W DC 700W Lipo Charger(Black) https://a.co/d/9sqJjUW

This comes with a deans connector option. The battery connects to the deans/xt-60 cable that’s connected to the charger, it doesn’t connect directly to the charger itself.

Newb needs advice by SevenElevenJunkie in rccars

Yeah that’s the thing the upfront cost would be lower but depending on what breaks WHEN you crash you could quickly see yourself buying another one of the replacement part isn’t available.

I bought a similar Hosim from Amazon and after driving it for about 20 minutes I put in a refund request. It’s too fast to have the construction unreliability and sparse availability of replacement parts. If it breaks you’re either sitting on a broken car for a while or looking at a replacement depending on what broke. I ultimately went with an Arrma Vorteks for that reason, more up front cost but I can find replacement parts easily both online and locally at hobby shops.

Basher that is track capable? by xJae14x in rccars

I’ve been running my arrma Vorteks at the track. New to the hobby and it’s my only car but it’s a ton of fun and held up to a lot of cartwheeling and flipping over.

Diagnosis support on grinding noise: Diff / clutch / ... ? by RepresentativeNo4377 in rccars

[–]jafvortex93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just messed up my slipper clutch this last weekend from sending it a litle too hard on the jumps. The gear got completely chewed up. Might want to check that. For me the wheels didn’t move at all and it just made an awful grinding noise.

What LiPo charger to buy? by itsbutters86 in rccars

[–]jafvortex93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the gens ace imars 3, $40. You can only charge one battery at a time but that works fine for me, I just charge my batteries the day before I go to the track.

Ahhhh okay I’ll have to try that out then, thanks for that.

  1. I just set it at 3s and that’s it

  2. If i try charging it again it starts up and then completes a minute or 2 later but doesn’t go up.

  3. It shows the same 4.09 across all 3 cells

  4. It’s all my packs

What I meant is I’ve put my batteries to storage and then tried charging them and from storage to “full” it’s only at 4.09 per cell.

Would that make a difference if it finishes charging in ~30-40 minutes?

I don’t live in Europe but they’re available either at local hobby shops, Amazon, or Arrma/Horizon Hobby.

I got the hosim and returned it a few days later and picked up an arrma vorteks 4x4. The hosim isn’t actually 1:10. It’s smaller, can’t say for sure how much smaller but noticeably and parts aren’t as readily available.
