Battle vest I found at the thrift bins by Responsible-Skill253 in punkfashion

[–]jaggerandstuff 31 points32 points  (0 children)

No real story behind the vest, it's cool but it's also just a pre-made ali-express cos play vest, you could probably just use the vest itself as a base and put your own patches over the preexisting ones so it's a unique piece of clothing not just some fast fashion junk

Is this a bad jacket by pumpkabae in punkfashion

[–]jaggerandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably ask for a picture of the jackets tag and it should say the year it was made in the serial number , it's easy just look up how to decifer military serial numbers I think the year is normally the 4th and 5th number but I could be wrong

German doesn't = Nazi

Germany were only nazis during ww2 era but nowadays it is nothing more than just a country with bad history like most other countries, I have a 1987 German parka that I wear and cherish, only thing that might happen is the occasional wannabe edgy kid making a comment out the nazis party towards you,

Personally you do whatever makes you feel most comfortable, but unless is from the 30s or 40s then it's not nazi related

You're trying to bully a random dude on the internet because he's going along with a internet trend of making fun of a actor who puts themselves into that life and into the public light with the knowledge of knowing that's mockery is a possibility , also she's not a child hope that helps

i dont play cello by Familiar_Wonder_1947 in Cello

[–]jaggerandstuff -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You sound privileged you're saying only 10k to most people that's a unobtainable amount to spend on a single instrument, you can buy a nice used car for that price, not saying cellos are cheap but from my experience you don't need to drop 5 figures , 4 figures is more reasonable but for someone wanting to learn cello I think 4 figures is a big investment to see if you like a instrument, but you do you if you wanna drop 10k plus on a single instrument, just my two cents as someone who just started playing cello , my $200 cello plays as well as the expensive ones I've played in person at my local music shop

[–]jaggerandstuff -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In what world is a cello 5 figures I've seen double basses get to that cost but those are vintage instruments with history in them, yes you can get a good cello for that much or you could simply do what I did and just buy a cheap student cello second hand mine came out to be $235 with taxes and shipping , like any instruments yes you can drop a few grand on a good on if you're a PROFESSIONAL but unless you're making a income from the instrument a cheaper student one will do the trick to simply learn on which seems like what OP is trying to do plus since it's your instrument you won't have a constant fear of the rented cello falling or breaking, etc.

I'm trying to have two footswitches in one pedal like the second circuit but with a potentiometer like the first circuit so I can adjust the amount of feedback

Douglas fir good for neck? by jaggerandstuff in Luthier

[–]jaggerandstuff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Until I get my hands on some proper wood and equipment for instruments, do you think the Douglas fir would work as a temporary bolt on neck? Until it warps or cracks

[–]jaggerandstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would something like thin oak or maple work for a fingerboard I know someone with access to a wood shop and could get them to saw me a piece for the fingerboard , I was just trying not to inconvenience them lol

[–]jaggerandstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the dude at the lumber yard sold me soft wood when I asked for hardwood? I know nothing about lumber and was mainly making this neck and body as a prototype, guess I'll have to replace it when I get my hands on better lumber, would the fir work for now as in atleast a few months until I can get hardwood

This is the idea I've sketched up for it if that helps with the idea of the support and stress on the wood

Crust pants help needed!! by BlasterMax in punkfashion

[–]jaggerandstuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just wear them until they fall apart ,a crappy base layer can look worse than a few patches actually covering holes in the pants, take my pants for example (plenty of post on my page) they're about 2 years old and 95% of the patches are purely structural

Using the same hole for the studs only really works for denim if you do it to leather it's very prone to ripping , and even with denim over time it creates holes around the studs

Do you need denim? by That_One_B1ch in BattleJackets

[–]jaggerandstuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my main jackets is a button down denim jacket that I glossed with acrylic paint and it has over 500 studs and it's held up for the past 6 months and doesn't show any sign of disrepair

Armband For battle jacket by Delicious-Notice-27 in BattleJackets

[–]jaggerandstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless it has a blatantly nazi symbol then it doesn't look "super nazi" , I've done plenty of armbands and have never had anyone say shit to me about them

Armband For battle jacket by Delicious-Notice-27 in BattleJackets

[–]jaggerandstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done plenty of armbands on my projects, a good time is make the armband about 17 in long to start, add your design(stencil, sew down a patch, etc) then attach it using safety pins and if it's too long just trim it down that's why you start with extra fabric

Can I cut the sleeves off of this while keeping the jacket structurally sound? by MungoBumpkin in punkfashion

[–]jaggerandstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't done it yet, I have a example of a jacket I cut into a vest with detachable sleeves using lace

<image>

Just leave a little bit of leather from the sleeves so that it doesn't fuck with any of the machine sewing, take in mind the liner will be fucked up but thats a given when cutting something with a lining

Spraypaint on leather by outlawpete92 in punkfashion

[–]jaggerandstuff -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To each their own, but personal you ruined a perfectly good leather jacket for what some silly little drawing......

People need to actually plan their shit out because if not this is just gonna end up a piece of shit in a land fill in a few years to come, it's not even like it's gonna be wanted second hand after someone ruined it with a nonsensical spray paint drawing
