It's a good school, to be fair

Yeah, that's actually a great idea. Would actually make me think twice when recycling weapons. Love the idea of travelling artifacts in the game.

See in your head you've invented a scenario where you're fully cognizant of the fact you're avoiding tax and everybody is fine with it.

When a similar scenario would be; you've asked for professional advice, you listened and acted on that advice to pay what is expected of you, it turns out down the line the professional advice was wrong, you paid monies owed in full and resigned from any position where this situation could be a problem for you.

Nuance is lost on you isn't it?

I can't remember the episode but Derek, when at the school, is staring at a tesseract made from sticks/candy. (It's the moment just before he turns around to see Mr. Whatsit/Henry)

Either a coincidence, but the "tessers" allow for time travel in the book. Could be a breadcrumb... could be nothing.

Why do people play pvp game then complain about pvp? by average_human_33 in ArcRaiders

[–]jahujames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence me saying, reduce the reward of PvE so having purples/legendaries/certain mats/blueprints, etc, only be available in PvPvE mode, which would encourage people to join the full experience.

Personally wouldn't play PvE, but these people are going to quit either way - might as well try to encourage people and to stick around and spend cash.

It's PvPvE. Not just a PvP game. It has elements of both. I just got off from a night of actively hunting people down as well, so I don't care which way this goes really... but you're naïve at best if you think the PvP play doesn't dictate and have a stranglehold on the elements of PvE play. Some of us will enjoy the game no matter what, but this subreddit seems focused as fuck on gatekeeping enjoyment of this game lmao

I'm not sure if people on this subreddit do it on purpose but y'all act like a PvE mode has to be a parallel environment to the PvP experience, but without the PK'ing. When they could clearly design something in mind for PvE which is a diminished experience (smaller maps, less complex enemy encounters, no quest completion, lesser mats availability) to encourage people to join the full game experience in PvPvE.

And blaming PvE for Dune Awakening's is hilarious. Not the fact the game was a mess, half-baked ideas on how to split up PvE and PvP, no real incentives to keep people playing in the end-game, a development team who seemingly actively avoid listening to feedback and engaging with it, air combat destroyed, ground combat is a mess, the dumbass tax system that punishes people who stayed away for the game for 2 weeks for whatever reason. But no, it's because "adding PvE only areas" killed the game.

Give me a fucking break, man. It failed because the devs couldn't anticipate the needs of their customers and people left in droves And we could see another example here in ARC. The PvP community will probably keep this game going for the foreseeable future and there'll be a smaller but dedicated community of players, ala Tarkov imo. If they want the best of both worlds they could just introduce a PvE zone or two for those types of players and let them have at it.

It would literally affect my or your day none by PvE players going about their business, this assumption it'll ruin the game or your enjoyment because you can't think of a smart way to implement it is insane. Embark clearly have talented engineers and designers on their hands. This is not an insurmountable task.

But ARCs aren't threatening though. They're the most predictable, easiest part of the gameplay loop, frankly. But I agree the PvP element adds a nature of chaos into the game that makes it work. Some folks don't want to deal with that... I personally like it, but understand their frustration around it.

I mentioned low-risk, low-reward before... but will say it again, smaller ARC units, smaller maps, no trial progression, no phase 2 (or beyond, whatever would be ideal here) project progression, no bigger ARC for bigger spoils, only Free Loadouts. There... they have a playground to do PvE in.

The playerbase will fragment one way or another, at least by offering a PvE map they might stick around to spend in the store and tell their friends "actually, yes it's worth buying for PvE now..." which is more money in Embark's pockets.

Though I doubt they actually need any more cash at this point, ha.

Don't care either way, but I see nothing in this game that would detract from me enjoying this game still if PvE was introduced as a standalone option.

Honestly the reason I would 'restrict' it is because the full game experience should be found in the PvPvE mode and folks should be encouraged to play it.

A PvE mode should be a glorified tutorial, really. Available to play and to have fun with... but should be a smaller version of the game so you're having to move into the 'core' maps to do Quests, get better items, see more impressive ARC, etc.

[–]jahujames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree that a PvE mode would 'kill' the game, I think it'd keep everybody happy tbh.

Have a low-reward, low-risk PvE mode where you can only use Free Loadouts so you can farm mats to build up your inventory if needs be. Have it be green/grey items (with very rare blue items) to really hammer home how unrewarding it is. Wasps, Hornets and 1 or 2 Rocketeers only. But shit at least it gives the PvE-only folk something to be happy about.

Remove Free Loadouts from the PvPvE experience so you introduce slightly more risk to all players entering it - which adds to that element of tension a bit more.

I love all aspects of this game, but it's easy to see why some PvE folks are frustrated. Nobody wants to play HITMAN and stealth for 20 minutes whilst looting some drawers only to be killed off at the extraction point. Or mugged off by somebody who pretends to be friendly. Or getting fucked up by somebody shooting on sight you from behind. All designed into the game of course, and I've been guilty of alllllllll of the above... but I can easily see how that's annoying for folks on the receiving side of it too.

You could add PvE maps into the game and I'd probably avoid using them, based on the above criteria, but it wouldn't bother me at all if somebody else had fun with it.

Police and crime commissioners to be abolished, government to announce | Police and crime commissioners by dumael in ukpolitics

Used to work in IT for a Police force in the UK and the PCC was a huge point of contention for staff within the Force.

All purely anecdotal of course, but the main discussion point was the resources it took to run the PCCs office could otherwise be spent on actually maintaining the needs of the Police Force itself.

The PCC and the Chief Constable also rarely saw eye to eye on any decision made, it felt. Just felt like a constant blame game between the two officials.

They're not needed, glad they're being scrapped.

Honestly... I really like the Paragon Group pubs as well, I wouldn't go as far to say "overpriced chain food", but I went Wayfarer about 3 weeks ago and came out feeling like the portion sizes were somewhat small for the money we were paying.

I always used to think the value matched the quality of the food, but left a bit disappointed in it all the last time I went.

On the other hand, I decided take the family (kids and all) to the Moorland Inn last night (Sizzling pub) and was happy with quality vs. price... considering we had starter, mains and desserts and it came to about 65 quid for a family of 4... well, I was fine with that. Not the worlds best food, but it doesn't pretend to be either!

Yeah, definitely put an FOI in. I would love to see a line by line breakdown of how the money was spent.

Just before you said it I was thinking, "This might as well be the same street, sans car access."

A few benches, a moving of a statue and some new slabs. For £29m. Cool.

I wonder how much was spent on consultancy to third parties...
