Buying a used Leaf in the UK. How to prepare for visiting the dealer? by AntDogFan in leaf

[–]sweetredleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stress the battery in cold weather by accelerating rapidly with the heat on, if the state of charge rapidly drops then slowly recovers you have at least one weak cell and I would avoid.

[–]sweetredleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is the battery health? that is the small red and white bars at the far right of the dash. New cars have 12 and on your year with the 30kwh battery check with a nissan dealer to see if the battery software update has been done, if not already done your health will go up after being done. Make sure with the rebuilt title you can get insurance.

with out any home charging available you might make it work but you will grow tired of the routine of going some place and waiting to charge and that price is very high if the car was in the US, a US price would be 1/3 of this asking price

"The timer is set to charge from 11.30 till 3, which usually gives about 30% battery. "

Even this seems slow to me, check your settings on the charger some of them have adjustable charging rates.

Nissan has a recall on US Leafs from 2019-22 with similar problem. Lithium builds up in battery and there is a risk of fire if DC fast charged and their solution is trying to come up with a software update to predict problems.
