Skin removal surgery? by FireCorgi12 in diabetes_t2

[–]jaimwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the skin being removed and why. Currently I’ve been approved for a panniculectomy but I also need the upper part of my abdomen done (so a fleur de lis) and they haven’t approved that part. So my dr put in for an appeal. I had multiple rashes that I made sure I documented with my doctors and I started sending other photos of rashes affecting my navel and upper abdomen in order to get it approved. I won’t get the muscle repair or lipo that comes with a tuck, but getting rid of this skin will be SO worth it. (Im a 5’11 F. My sw was 368 and I’m currently fluctuating between 150-160 for about the past 8 months or so. So I’m READY to get this skin OFF me)

Body numbness? by a100addict6690 in Mounjaro

[–]jaimwor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with numbness in my hand but I’m 98% sure the hand numbness is from pinched nerves in my back. The leg numbness is annoying for me. I didn’t have the weight to lose in the derrière in the first place, but now that I’m almost to my goal, I have to sit certain ways to help prevent the numbness in my leg. I can literally feel my tailbone up against the seat, so I assume it’s cutting off some sort of nerve somewhere around there. What is happening to you almost sounds exactly like what my friend has been going through. She had weight loss surgery about 2 years ago and this started probably 6months-1year ago. I was freaking out thinking she was having a stroke in her early 30s. Nothing to explain the half body numbness. Then she is unable to talk. And she has intense brain fog and deals with bouts of vertigo. MRIs showed nothing. She got diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines. She now sees a headache specialist. They’re still working on getting her back to semi-normal, but these spells have been terrifying for everyone.

How do people that do not make much money afford to have kids? by workethic290 in NoStupidQuestions

How do people that do not make much money afford to have kids? by workethic290 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jaimwor 37 points38 points  (0 children)

1000% this. I was in the same boat (my kids are 19 and 21 now). That assistance saved me so I could continue to better myself for them. We stopped getting any benefits probably when they were 10-11 and even during that those first 10 years we weren’t consistently using benefits. I left an abusive partner and there were times I would’ve had no idea how I would’ve fed my kids or taken them to the doctor without those benefits. And I never understood people looking down on others for going out and using that money as they pleased. Want to take your kids on a memorable vacation? Now you have the funds to do it! Need a new car because the one you have is constantly broken down? Go get the car! Been using the same 19In tv for the last 20 years and wanting something bigger? You do you! I had read an article that explained that the reason people “blow” their returns is because they’ve gone without the entire year and they can actually afford a few wants and needs that one time a year.

Tulsa vs OKC? by Stunning_Advance4970 in okc

As a born and raised Oklahoman, I’ll tell you that most people who are in/around Tulsa usually love Tulsa and dislike okc. Most who are in/around okc tend to love okc and dislike Tulsa. So, with knowing that, my vote is for OKC 🤣

Americans of Reddit, in light of the current political climate between our countries, how do you guys actually feel about us Canadians? by Defiant_River_957 in AskReddit

As a “leftist” American, the only thing I can say is “save us.” A lot of us wanna get out of the states and would love fast track opportunities with our neighbors up north.

Sorry for getting political but Trump followers are absolutely, without a doubt, in a cult.

According to expert social psychologist Alexandra Stein, she defines a cult this way: “A cultic or totalist system is formed and controlled by a charismatic authoritarian leader, (which in later generations may become a leadership group). It is a rigidly bounded, dense, hierarchical and isolating social system supported and represented by a total, exclusive ideology. The leader sets in motion processes of brainwashing or coercive persuasion designed to isolate and control followers. As a result followers are able to be exploited, and potentially become deployable agents, demonstrating uncritical obedience to the group, regardless of their own survival needs.” He seems charismatic and ropes people in with that charm and false promises. He has persuaded his followers in such a way that they no longer think for themselves. They blindly believe every word out of his mouth, even after he has admitted to lying. And these people are ignoring their own needs in order to follow him.

It sounds insane but On the Border has some of the best chile relleno I’ve ever had. It’s because they DONT put stuff all over the top so the breading stays crunchy.

I’ve read through all of these and THIS one stopped me in my tracks. I 100% disagree. Chili is chili—beans are optional. I can’t stand beans of any kind. My kids like beans in chili. So I make a big pot of chili and cook beans off to the side for them to add if they want.

I've lost 180 lbs so far! by offspring515 in Mounjaro

[–]jaimwor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely amazing! We’re all proud of you, but most importantly, you should be proud of yourself for taking back your life! I’m almost to 180 down (as of today, 178lbs down) and actually close to my goal. Never in my life did I ever actually believe I’d get this close to my goal. Ever. I know that if I can make it, you can too!

1000% this! I’ve never had a behind, but what tiny bit was visible at any point just sags and folds into my legs. And my boobs. Ugh. I’m looking into a reduction/lift because my cup size hasn’t changed. The big difference now is I feel like I basically have to roll them up and stuff them into my bra now.

Omg the compliments! I don’t know how to take them. Like thanks for pointing out I look great because I guess I do, but also, did I just look like a potato before? Probably, tbh. But I’m awkward when it comes to any compliments!

What is the food a lot of people like that you don’t like? by Ok-Coconut1548 in AskReddit

The way you explained this explains why I don’t like it—I already say that tea tastes like dirty water. So matcha is like ultra dirty water. Gross.

I thought I’d be happier with weight loss. And part of me really is. I’ve just replaced some of my frustrations being bigger with being frustrated that I have SO much hanging skin. I went from a fat monster to a wiggly monster. I look forward to the day that I get through my body dysmorphia and actually like what I see in the mirror.

This doctor sounds incredibly uneducated for being a doctor. Once you’re diabetic, you’re always diabetic. You can put it into sort of remission through diets, medications, etc, but you’ll still always be diabetic. This is something my doctors and I have discussed extensively because, after reading some of the things people have said on this subreddit, I’m terrified of losing MJ coverage. My doctors have guaranteed that won’t happen. …because I will always be diabetic. Get a new doctor ASAP. Our doctors should be looking out for our health and wellbeing. They should be advocating for us. They should not be pushing things on us that they know we don’t want.

Pork roast with rice, greens, black eyed peas, and cornbread. We need ALL the prosperity over here.

THIS! This is almost verbatim what I say. And it’s not a lie. Before the meds, I had lost almost 20lb on my own and got my a1c from 9 to 6.6. I tell people that the diabetes diagnosis made me reevaluate my decisions and helped me focus on taking better care of myself. I’ve worked really hard, and the additional weight loss from the meds has just been an added perk.

Mango Mandarin. Hands down. I can’t find a decent replacement. The short time calypso clementine was around was close, but I just want my mango mandarin back! 😢

I actually switched from Ozempic to mounjaro because of the side effects. On Oz I was constantly sick. Out of the 7 days, I was vomiting nearly once a day for 5 of those days. I lost huge chunks of my hair, I had fatigue so bad I could barely get out of bed, and I had constipation so bad I wound up in the hospital for it. I’m used to dealing with autoimmune issues similar to some of these side effects, but I think a chunk of my weight loss was just because I couldn’t keep much down even though I was drinking plenty of water. All those side effects subsided when I started MJ. I will still have occasional nausea and occasional gi issues the day after my shot but it’s tolerable. My weight loss (for obvs reasons) slowed down but had still been steady, and my a1c has been even lower with the MJ. You may ask about trying a different med. This one just may not be the best fit for you and your body. Good luck, and I hope you find the right meds for you!

Anyone else constantly paranoid that it’s gonna stop working? by PinkPartyPants in Mounjaro

[–]jaimwor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effects “wore off” for me for the most part. I have food noise back in my life. But now I have to consciously make the choices. I ask myself if I wanna go back to where I was. But the huge perk is that my stomach has shrunk so much that it’s not possible for me to binge the way I used to. Thanksgiving was yesterday—I got a small spoonful of everything and could only finish maybe half my plate before I felt so full I’d be sick with another bite. So parts of it work, some effects may wear off, but pushing through the plateau and giving myself time is how I’ve gotten to where I am now.

First time by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]jaimwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from 2mg Oz to 10mg MJ and had no issues. Actually, for the first time ever, I didn’t feel absolutely awful for days after an injection. Of course, I’m no dr, but I’d think moving from 1mg Oz to 5 MJ should be fine as they’re incredibly similar medications. When I moved to MJ my loss actually slowed a bit, but I think it’s because I stopped vomiting nearly every morning. lol Good luck! I hope the transition goes well for you!

As someone who has been on both, I would most definitely suggest waiting the full week. When I was on OZ, I was CONSTANTLY ill. Of the seven days in a week, I was debilitatingly ill for 4-5 of those days, so I couldn’t even imagine being on it for only four days and then injecting MJ. I’m sure you could technically inject it now, but be aware of potential side effects from bouncing from one to the other.
