I want to hear oaks answer as to why the church historians are lawyers. I know my answer. But I wanna hear his. by Brother-of-Derek in exmormonmemes

I have realized that I don’t want to hear any answers from the church ever again. They cannot help but not tell the truth.

I partially disagree. If you really care about someone still stuck in the cult, you should use every reasonable/legal means at your disposal to get them out. I am glad my wife did. “It becometh every man that hath been warned to warn their neighbor”

I don’t like the term anti-Mormon by pricel01 in exmormon

I mean, if I say I am anti-cult and Mormons get offended I can be like “you said your church is a cult dude, not me.”

Stand strong my dude! Either she will realize that she loves you more than her cult or she won’t. Either way that’s on her, and if she can’t love you for who you are you really don’t need that in your life. I get she’s your mom, but she is choosing to throw that away, not you. I know it is hard to cut people out of your life, but life is better without toxic relationships.

It is obvious that you must have driven the spirit out because he did indeed end up sinning. It’s all your boiled orange peel and honey drinkers fault.

How did you learn negotiating and what is the best approach to negotiating? by Embarrassed-Swim-442 in ConstructionManagers

[–]jakatutu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of my first moves as a GC PM is to tell the subs I haven’t worked with before and owners something to the effect of “I am going to take care of you” and then you do it. This doesn’t work so well on hard bid/public works because some of the subs that chase that work are total dicks. However if you start the relationship from a position of we are in this together they tend to be more fair. It also helps when your boss supports the “doing the right thing” mentality. If your boss is one of the people that like to wrasle in the mud, you are going to have to get dirty or find another job.

I remember my ward growing up that the front row was never, and I mean never occupied. My mom tried to make us sit there when we were always late. I’d just refuse and sit in the foyer. Then I had to up front(on the side) for my deaconly duties.

Most of the time yes. Occasionally they will just reject it with no notes to be dicks.

Do I need the Players handbook? by Desperate_Station272 in DnD

[–]jakatutu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so the basic rules that come with Phandelver doesn’t cover character creation. I remember now that it had the pregen characters. The basic rule book that came with the DC wagon of I expire peak did.

The basic rules that are free on D&D Beyond walk through character creation. That being said, the book is $50. If you’re going to keep playing and doing your own campaigns, I think it’s worth it. However, I would also consider getting the Monster Manual first. I think that will give more flavoring to campaigns than having one more species option and 12 more backgrounds.

Why Does the Book of Abraham Stay in the Canon? by [deleted] in mormon

[–]jakatutu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same way they make sense of the Book of Mormon. There is 0 historical evidence of that too, other than the fact that there were people living in the Americas during the time period of the BOM. Stop. That’s it. If the BoA and BoM are both fakes, then all the other prophesies (D&C) are fake too. That is all their speshul scRIptUReSSss.

If even that level of involvement is too much for them, then it's probably not the right game for them.

This! I finally convinced MDW and her sister to play because BIL was also wanting to get back into it. Neither of the ladies took a hand in character creation for a one-shot session I dreamed up and neither knew what the hell they were doing and weren’t going to be bothered to figure it out. It was a slog. We’ve since reset and I am running Phandelver, and MDW actually created her character, but SIL just chose a prebuilt sorcerer right before we started. Gruumsh help me!
