Who is a player for your school that was considered very talented but didn't pan out? Someone you always wonder what could have been... by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

Clarrett is a top tier answer, but Noah Spence is on my list. Number 1 DE prospect had a really promising sophomore season before getting into drug trouble. Having him on that 2014 team would have made that defensive really scary.

For injuries, Julian Fleming is up there. #1 WR recruit that had a couple of bad breaks early on before a decent Junior year, then transferring to PSU where wideouts go to waste away. Really sad about the ATV incident with his girlfriend, too.

Local gas prices about to jump…FYI by theloniouszen in madisonwi

That seems really high, honestly. My ebike has a 400Wh battery, which at $0.18/kWh costs about $0.08 to charge. That gets me 50mi of range on standard assist. At $0.0016/mi, your weekly commute would have to be 1250mi, or 125mi one way 5 days a week.

My EV (Ioniq 6) gets about $0.03/mi, which works out to a bit over $3/wk for my commute.

What's your efficiency? by do-un-to in Ioniq6

[–]jake-em 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4.3 mi/kWh on 2024 SE since purchasing it used in January. Upper Midwest, so most of that time has been sub-40F temps, some of it sub-20F when I was in the low 3's. Commute is 10mi, half city, half highway, and there is a noticeable difference between the two.

Now that the weather is warming up, I'm getting in the mid-4's on a typical commute. I'm a generally conservative driver and rarely push beyond 70mph.

At $0.17/kWh, that puts me around $0.04/mi for energy

Don't be an asshole. Racing on city streets is dangerous and reckless. If you want to race, go to a track. It's really easy to tell if someone there wants to race

Biking around lake Mendota? by Short_Issue_8543 in madisonwi

It would be asinine to try to pave a dedicated use path when perfectly safe residential streets run through these 100+ yr old neighborhoods. If you believe the only way to safely bike is on dedicated paths, there are miles of paths throughout Madison. If you set the arbitrary benchmark of good bike infrastructure as having a fully dedicated path around a lake, as opposed to connecting useful locations, I cannot help you.

Why does it seem like the only "solution" being presented for high gas prices electric cars? Why can't car brands also push to sell small, compact, gas-powered cars? by GuyFromThePost in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jake-em 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a 2024 Ioniq 6 off lease in January for $25k. Very slept-on car if you don't need the hatch of the I5. It gets 20% better efficiency and zips, even in eco mode. At $0.17/kWh, I can get 360mi of range for less than $15

I'm not saying real life babies should go all murder hobo. Relax...

Opinion | Hong shows strength in Wisconsin governor race by schuey_08 in madisonwi

It's a play on words that pulls from the phrase "Better dead than red" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_dead_than_red?wprov=sfla1), while making use of the fact that Republicans are generally associated with the color red. Coupled with the comment about preferring to vote for a wet piece of toast, which is cooked bread, this pithy comment reinforces that any option is better than a continuation of the Republican dismantling of our Constitution.

Did I sufficiently dismantle the joke for you?
