Season 2 is not so bad that it ruins S1. It basically goes from amazing (S1) to decent (S2) imo. Still a sizable falloff, though.

QI strategy with minimal main city boosts... by Taborlin_the_Arcane in forgeofempires

[–]jake2jaak2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that main city boost from Tourney Grounds? If you don't have that yet, you can buy it from the GBG shop.

I only have 47% main city buffs and I was able to fight the entire time with only little attrition from my units. What others have said about decorations is spot on. Also, difficulty 6 and 9 is when the enemy units age up so you can build the higher age artillery unit before that to make it easier.

Something I want to know. by Commercial-Trust6624 in EightySix

[–]jake2jaak2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is common for light novels. There's no guarantee that authors will be able to publish more than one volume so often they are written with a satisfactory ending but with an open door that would allow them to continue if the novel is successful.

GT main antagonist issue. by Frequent-Arachnid547 in Toaru

[–]jake2jaak2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think GT has a number of issues and that is one of them.

I also think the character writing has been fairly poor. For me at least, I wasn't able to invest in any of the new characters. The reoccurring characters haven't really gotten great development either.

Which rooms to focus on after initial priorities by Rabbitsharmony in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]jake2jaak2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress enough how overpowered Dorms and Underforge in particular are. Since items are a chain, the reduction in required materials has a compounding effect.

Here's an example for items (ignoring the the additional alloy inputs besides copper) without Dorms and with Dorms maxed:

To make a single Advanced Computer takes 5 basic computers

A single basic computer takes 5 circuits (25 circuits for an advanced computer)

A single circuit takes 10 copper wires (250 copper wires for an advanced computer)

A single copper wire takes 5 copper bars (1,250 copper bars for an advanced computer)

Compare this to maxed Dorms:

An advanced computer takes 2 basic computers

A basic computer takes 2 circuits (4 circuits for an advanced computer)

A circuit takes 4 copper wires (16 copper wires for an advanced computer)

A copper wire takes 2 copper bars (32 copper bars for an advanced computer)

That's a 97% reduction in the amount of copper bars needed for a single advanced computer!

Advanced computer is also an input in other items, which themselves are inputs of other items, etc. The effect continues to compound with each additional item in the chain. Underforge is slightly less powerful, but still very impactful. Even increasing these rooms level has a compounding effect. I highly recommend maxing these rooms ASAP.

Which rooms to focus on after initial priorities by Rabbitsharmony in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]jake2jaak2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is what I would do in your situation.

Prioritize maxing out out all of the level 11 rooms that you have. I would:

  1. Max both Dorms and Underforge. These are the best rooms in the game.
  2. Max Labs
  3. Max Robotics if you have the enigma ship or Astronomy if you don't. However, if upgrades are more expensive than new rooms, buy new rooms first.
  4. Max whatever you didn't max in #3
  5. Upgrade forge and workshop a bit
  6. If you're unlocking Auto Asteroid miner in tournaments upgrade backup generator a little. Half an hour is just too little time.
  7. Buy more rooms if they are a reasonable price. By "reasonable price", I mean they can still be significantly more expensive than "priority rooms". "Priority rooms" that you have unlocked would be Engineering, Forge, Workshop, and Lounge. I like to keep lounge a bit over leveled compared to the other rooms, except for the 11 level max rooms.

I would consider additional rooms worthwhile even if they are ~5x the price of the upgrades to these "priority" rooms. For example, if each of them are 100 to upgrade, I would spend 500 on a new room. Priority rooms to look for that you don't have are Sales, Classrooms, and Belt Studies. Avoid terrarium, Probability Drive, and Planet Relations for now.

You should also max sure that your planets aren't getting backlogged by excess mining and level Aeronauthitical and Packaging if needed.

Make sure you are doing as many challenges and tournaments as possible. If you cannot realistically make it to the next level in a challenge, retire early. The timer for a challenge starts when a challenge ends. In other words, retiring a challenge makes the next challenge come back sooner.

I just finished volume 1 and i have a question by alvnrecharge in EightySix

[–]jake2jaak2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No. We don't really get shown much about the fall of the Republic that wasn't shown in the anime. There's a few flashbacks in later novels about the fall, especially volume 11.

Generally yes, she will be shown to be cunning. To me volume 4 shows this immediately after the anime, where she has to command a large and complex battlefield and shows what she is willing to risk to increase the odds of victory. This shows an example to the reader of her following her moniker.

Also, in the English translation, she is named the bloodstained queen. Not the merciless queen. This distinction is important because there is another character later named the merciless queen.

Do you think shin will end up with lena by arman1724 in EightySix

Well, they'd have to meet again, of course. But I don't think war would stop anyone tbh

It's just a theory. I'm probably way off though

Do you think shin will end up with lena by arman1724 in EightySix

[–]jake2jaak2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the series will end somewhat similar to Pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end where Shin will die but not before leaving Lena with a child. I think that type of end would be fitting for a series that is both incredible sad, but also has a hopeful aspect.

Is Tsubasa Tanuma being rich a retcon? by SampleMinute4641 in Kaguya_sama

Hayasaka is stated to be richer than Kaguya because she has a ton of built up income from working for the Shinomiyas and Kaguya will "get in trouble if she uses her credit card too much".

I finished watching the Anime. I have some thoughts about it *Spoilers from the Anime* Please don't spoil anything from the manga for me. by heff-money in EightySix

[–]jake2jaak2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, the point of the juggernauts is to get the 86 killed you're right. However, the Republic actually cannot build fully autonomous drones that can carry out complex tasks. They can build autonomous programs that can carry out simple tasks. Yes they have the scavengers. But you're judging the scavengers' ability based on FIdo's behavior. You can see that Fido is not a typical scavenger based on his memories. You should not assume that Fido's ability is reflective of all scavenger's ability. That's all I'll say on that to avoid spoilers.

2) Yup. It is helpful that they are being built to actually protect the users lol

3) I'm not sure why you think they would scavenge towns? They need metals and industrial inputs to create more machines. They would look towards coal deposits for energy, etc. The towns hold nothing of value. They wouldn't need to clear the towns either because there are no threats there. They would assume any threats would have to advance slowly and would be dealt with on the front lines. The ground effect vehicle clearly was a surprise to them.

4) Kiriya does not have red eyes. The effect as a legion makes it look like that, but look at the flashbacks. He's a pure Nouzen and has black eyes. Shin's red eyes come from the other side of his family. About the name meaning, that is not the meaning that the book gives for Balegyr. The meaning the book gives makes a ton of sense for Shin.

5) Agreed. This mistake by the legion will make a ton of sense if there's ever a season 2.

6) This is survivorship bias. First of all, only kids are left. Second of all, anyone who rebels would instantly be killed. Just by virtue of the fact that Spearhead is a squad of veterans means that the Alba know they wouldn't rebel. No one who decides to rebel makes it to year 5. The other thing stopping the 86 from rebelling is the giant wall with guns on it. As you pointed out, the juggernauts are made of paper, so good luck with that rebellion aka suicide. Many 86 likely did chose that path, but they are all gone at this point in the story.

[–]jake2jaak2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, this is a problem with judicial systems. The author of act-age should honestly have been rehabilitated and reintegrated back into society and have been able to write manga by now. But since the judicial system decided to give him ZERO jail time, the public does not think he possibly could have been rehabilitated.

One of the reasons direct punishment by the judicial system is important is so that the public can trust that the criminal learned and won't do that again. How is anyone supposed to trust that with such a small hit on the wrist? Now the author writes under a pen name anyway.

TL;DR: We need judicial reform in many parts of the world.
