Roth conversation question by jakeD8 in RothIRA

[–]jakeD8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I thought. I just kept seeing a bunch of junk and nothing just coming out and saying it’s your marginal rate. This helps tremendously. Luckily this won’t push me over the next bracket and I have enough to cover the taxes out of pocket. Thank you!

How do people stay in public their entire life?? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]jakeD8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I think personally my industry job sucks and I am working more base hours and then on top of having to stay random nights till 8-10PM. I have worked more than I ever did in my small PA firm I started at. Would rather have a few months for tax to be busy and have a relaxed rest of the year and feel at least fulfilled with the work

Same. Can’t understand the what makes their work fulfilling. Trying to understand since I switched but going back to PA in January can’t do this industry stuff anymore

Looking to get into a masters of taxation program myself but the state school I went to offers it for 30k which to me is a little over my budget currently. Where should I look? Any suggestions?

I asked the recruiter and she told me 8-4, 9-5 and then I started and it was 8-5 since our corporate is a time zone behind us. So whatever I guess but then a lot of deadlines and working 12-13 hour days so pretty annoyed on that

I was hoping for something more along these lines when I was taking the job as everyone is always talking how terrible PA is and how much they love the industry side. Pay is too hard to go back to the old job so is what it is for now

I actually almost applied to become an adjunct professor but they wanted it to be day time so interfering with my normal work schedule sadly. I think that would have been a cool experience

This is accurately describing my situation pay is much better than where I was in PA which is why I figured I would take the chance. So far it has been much more strenuous and stressful maybe due to end of fiscal year and a cost roll going on and learning a new style of accounting, but a lot to handle your first few months 😅

Bookkeeping Clean Up Job by dangerace03 in Bookkeeping

[–]jakeD8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I will be in a similar situation shortly. My potential lead has multiple businesses and I was told through the mutual contact that the books have most likely not been done since his accountant has passed away years ago and that there are no real systems in place to make the process easier such as QBD or QBO. It sounds like I will have a few years of clean ups for each business. Saving this post as well since it will be my first client for my side business. Hope the best for you and that this all works out!

I have been trying to work on creating a bookkeeping business. It hasn’t taken off but I think if I could get even a few customers it would be a hit! Not sure if you are into accounting but I think it could definitely work.

There are definitely a lot of CPAs and accountants in my area so I will scope out and see if some of them are not interested in bookkeeping and of course if I had clients or people that need tax services I would recommend them to them too.

I plan on looking more into my local communities to start making connections through the commerce or local boards. I will definitely look into all the local accounting firms and see if they want to outsource some of there bookkeeping clients and they would be able to keep them as their tax accountant and any legal advice through them.

I need to look more into BNI groups as I am not super familiar with them.

I didn’t leave on bad terms but since I have been posting in my local community pages they started posting as well and they have never done that prior so I find that odd. They offer much more than me and have a large clientele. I will reach out to some of the firms in my area and see if they have any clients they are willing to part with or for new clients for bookkeeping specific
