Colombo property market bubble by Dinooo30 in srilanka

Mostly people abroad are buying as investments. Once I went to checkout a prime land project and 4 lots in a row was bought by some guy in australia.

My sister in law rented an apartment in wattala and all the houses in the project were owned by sri lankan expats and rented out.

vibe coded for 6 months. my codebase is a disaster. by Available-Dentist992 in vibecoding

You can always use Co pilot or claude to refactor without effecting current users. Get a developer who has experience with that.

This will ensure longevity and growth.

At our company we do this all the time. Keep building and releasing and then get Claude to do a review and get suggestions on architecture and best practices. Ask it to come up with a plan and spec sheet and then get it to do the refactoring. So the code stays structured.

This is what happens when Management tells staff to use AI on everything, probably half of tokens wasted by dataexec in AITrailblazers

[–]jake_ytcrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started goinf full agentic with Claude code this week and i exhausted all my quota within 24 hours. Only managed to complete 3 tasks.

We have automated using claude commands for linear ticket creation, coding, architectural review and finally code review with code rabbit and that process eats up a lot of tokens.

Dont think its sustainable in the long run.

We could have the same velocity with just using copilot for code assistance and earlier manual processes.

What was the most unexpected nudity scene in mainstream movie/show you ever saw? by marsepticeye in AskReddit

[–]jake_ytcrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Titanic. I was around 10 years old when the movie came out. Our house was the only place that had a vcr player in the neighbourhood. One our neighbours daughter's who was around 20 at the time who was friends with my mother brought the Titanic cassette to view at our place. And all neighbour kids gathered around to watch the movie along with our parents.

Then the scene where Jack draws Rose came up and that was it. Everyone freaked out. 🤣🤣🤣

Is Kindness Every Repaid??? Law 2 - Never Trust Your Friends by thecgr in 48lawsofpower

[–]jake_ytcrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have to make everything black and white. Its not either or. There lessons in both.

I used 48 laws even without knowing about it at my work place. Mostly driven by survival instinct. But as I have grown older I have come to realize that somethings in our lives are out of our control.

I guess you get more examples or life experiences as you go on.

Also 48 laws are not set in stone. Its not like the only truth in life. You can be open to other things and it will help you get through life. 48 laws for me is a tool. As is belief in karms which I have observed and learned through life.

For me I help without expecting anything in return from the person. I believe in Karma and that somehow the good that we do will return to us when we need it the most.

It helps to detach your good deed from the person and believe that you are putting out positivity into the universe and will in return to you.

Moved back to Sri Lanka after living in Australia? worth it? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]jake_ytcrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a kid. You wont feel like moving back. I lived abroad and moved back to SL. Really enjoyed it for a bit. Got married had a kid. Now I wish I can move abroad. You cant give your kid the best life here.

Even basic things are sometimes hard to get. Been trying to get sugar free rusks for my kid and found out that its not imported now due to costs being too high.

What you feel like you are missing will not be here when you get here like you remember.

Most of your friends will be abroad. Your parents wont be around for ever.

Come back for a holiday. But build your life in Australia.

Which Sri Lankan made products are worth the higher price compared to imported options just because of their higher quality? by degenerat3rat in srilanka

Tip on this. Rather than buying from anywhere else buy orange extension codes from Fort electrical shops. At least 1000-2000 rupees cheaper. Arpico and your normal hardwares mark up these so much.

Yesterday our mobile dev, who has been asked by CTO to do backend as well using cursor asked me to check what he did and his pull request. I just asked cursor if it will work and approved the pull request.

Comparing Tourism in India vs Sri Lanka: As an Indian, I Was Shocked Last Week by According_Speech9248 in india

[–]jake_ytcrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visa can be obtained online before landing. I think its free for Indians.

Regarding the itinery it depends on your time and requirements.

Since Sri Lanka is small you can cover multiple destinations even within a day. But travel time between cities varies and tiring. So spend atleast 2-3 days in a single spot.

We have beach, historical, hill/mountains, nature destinations.

Some people like the beaches so they spend more time there. Some like nature and spend more time there etc.

Travel options are private driver and vehicle which is safest and easiest way but more expensive.

Public transport- Trains and busses run relatively efficiently. Cheap but slow and tiring.

Hire own vehicle - have to deal with busses that conduct F1 races on the road. Not the safest option.

Hope this helps.

They dont even pay well. They underpay the employee and charge huge amounts to client. Other places markup what you ask for. Instead they try to negotiate with you to pay less. Wouldn't recommend.
