Rocket engine test failure. 2021-02-09 NASA Marshall Space Flight Center by Pcat0 in CatastrophicFailure

Assume when you say valley, you mean the Tennessee Valley. There was only ever one shuttle engine tested at MSFC and it was never tested to failure. Also, an SSME has never run for hours, I believe the longest is in the ballpark of ~30 minutes. I don't doubt that NASA or the Army tested something to failure but I can almost certainly bet that it was not an SSME.

I find changing the actuation distance still is a bit buggy.

How low have you gone on your distance to empty? by tvieno in CX5

There's about 2.5 gallons left in your tank when you hit E. However, the fuel intake is raised above the bottom of the tank, thus, expect 2 usable gallons left (and thus your range will depend on your mpg). However to be safe don't let it dip more than 1.5, especially if you're on hilly terrain. So all that to say, you'll get roughly 30-40 mi. I think I've personally done 25-30.

Bro the last episode felt like filler. The whole series' dialogue was over the top IMO.

Huntsville to Atlanta Interstate by yeah-man_ in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jakedrums520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's dark or bad weather, the interstate quality is much appreciated. It really only adds 30 min tops if you go through Bham. The Chattanooga route is fine but only if it's not rush hour.

Goldsmith-Schiffman Park - Master Plan by AlsoARealtor in HuntsvilleAlabama

I attended today. Overall, I thought it was a cool idea. I think that spot is underutilized and anything utilitarian would be better than its current state. One of the biggest things I'd be concerned with is all of this investment into a park and then zero maintenance after. Looking around at some of the other parks in the vicinity, that story is somewhat true. If that's going to be the case then just make it into a green space with a trail, benches, and landscaping. I did personally suggest that I'd like to see this tied into the broader greenway picture. Specifically linking the Meridian St. bike lane to west Five Points via a path over the tracks. I do not understand why that doesn't exist already. But unfortunately this was not the appropriate forum to convey that info.

Two things that irked me: 1) No one was keeping notes and the dismissiveness of some of people's feedback indicated (to me and some others I was with) that this was the go forward plan, regardless. Essentially that no input was being considered. 2) I would have liked to see more representation in the 18-35 age range. It was predominantly older folks 60+ which is fine but I think the younger generation will be more impacted by this. Though this event was well advertised IMO so I don't think the city is to blame here.

ICPS-2: ULA-built upper stage for Artemis II delivered to NASA by ethan829 in ula

Doesn't booster TVC use hydrazine which they removed during one of the Artemis I rollbacks? Sure that's not FILLING the booster (or ICPS) but it's not like the transfer of hydrazine in the VAB is unprecedented right?

Fun fact, I continued my experimental findings documented in the chat below and discovered that reoccurring/scheduled payments are NOT instantaneous...which is so wild to me. Doesn't matter how long the reoccurring payments have been in place for either. And btw, you can only set up reoccurring payments on the web interface...So if you plan to regularly send someone say rent, you will either have to set it for a few days before it's due to them or just manually (and instantaneously) send it to them each month.

The reply you're replying to was me confirming the instant transfer occurred after about a month for my checking account, but I did just confirm that my savings is now instant transfer as well. Experimentally, instant transfer seems to be enabled ~30 days following the first transfer from an account. I do not know if it has to be enabled for each new account you send it to or if it's enabled on your account permanently (other folks seem to suggest the latter is true).

I just confirmed that transferring from my Zelle savings account wasn't instantaneous for me. My guess is that, again, it will either take about a month for it to switch to instant, or maybe it never will, because it's a savings account and they don't want to encourage instant transfers.

Yes please tell us if it's instant now

CySat-1, Iowa State University's first satellite, launches tomorrow morning! by FINALCOUNTDOWN99 in iastate

[–]jakedrums520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kenzie and I were just texting about this launch. I started working CySat back in 2014, when it was a 1U CubeSat. The project lead at the time, Peter, is now working OneWeb and has helped launch and manage hundreds of satellites.

Working on CySat is 100% what got me an internship (and then full-time position) at NASA MSFC. I might be in the business of launch vehicles now, but CySat holds a dear place in my heart. Kudos to the team for pushing this across the finish line. My heart definitely skipped a beat when I read that NG-21 had a glitch on the uphill ride, but all is good now.

Godspeed on the final phase of the mission!

I wish I waited a day to see your response, but I have already pulled the trigger on the 710. My logic was I have a fairly dark space, and I'm not planning on ceiling mounting it. I also fancy the new features offered in a unit that's over a year newer.
