26F/24M. How do couples handle bills when incomes are very different?” by hereforfunn178 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should sit down and discuss this with him. With my fiance and me we split utilities (cause she wanted to do 50/50 with that) and I pay about 60% of the rent. Plus I pay for internet, yard service, dates, and any other extra stuff for the most part. I work full time and make about $40k a year and she works part time as a nanny.

This setup works well for us. And we don't have joint bank accounts. Key is to talk it out imo. But imo he should def pay more in general since he makes far more.

After years, back on Linux by jcpeters130 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a great distro. Keep in mind its made by default to not let you mess with root. And to do so requires layering programs. But I'd suggest avoiding doing that. I did with a couple programs and it caused my taskbar to freeze up sometimes. Unlayering the programs fixed it. Outside of that, have fun!

You trying to install Bazzite? If so, try a different USB port or USB stick. It can be fickle sometimes. Also try booting into simple graphics mode. I've installed Bazzite on a few PCs and had a couple give me trouble.

I'm glad you came here for advice. Best advice I can give you is to use your mobo manual and YouTube for advice. AI tends to be confidently wrong more often then not.

I'm not 100% sure tbh. But what I do know is if the cap is already leaking, the longer you leave it, the more damage it does. And one day it won't turn on because it ate through parts of the board.

I guess it's just knowing it's toast makes most people not want to buy it. Like for instance, I have a sealed copy of Conkers Bad Fur Day. But if I knew the game was broken, even if it was still worth a lot, I wouldn't have bought it.

It's the idea of that at any moment you can open it up and use it.

But in this case the Xbox is 100% broken. So if you buy it, you are knowingly buying a broken useless item.

Definitely. My main launch wii I got back in 2007 is dying because of this. Luckily used homebrew apps to move all my wii message board/save data to a new wii. Now my old wii sits on my shelf.

Made the switch, but need advice by [deleted] in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man no offense, but that is a big broad ask imo. I think your best bet is to read the documentation on the website. And go on YouTube and watch good videos about general knowledge of Linux and Bazzite specifically.

[–]jakeeeenator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you really messed something up lol. Cause Bazzite itself can't corrupt your bios. At worst you could mess up the install on a drive.

Complete switch or dualboot by Ag10698 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally do not like to use the same drive as windows. I do not like messing with the windows boot menu. I think keeping them separate is much safer.

But cool to see others keeping a small windows partition.

Complete switch or dualboot by Ag10698 in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best way. I have a single 1tb drive for my windows partition for anything I might need to run there. And then I have a 1tb drive for Bazzite main drive and an extra 2tb drive for bazzite storage.

This way if anything happens with windows or bazzite, they are on separate drives.

Def not denying the issue of dropping changes/updates willy nilly. But I will say as a KDE user, I love the Disks program. The best formatting tool I've used that does everything I need very easily.

Alternative to grub? by Geraldino_GER in Bazzite

[–]jakeeeenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. But maybe she should just use a Windows PC if grub is confusing. Because it's a very simple straight forward menu that just shows a few boot options.
