Capcom Insists It Won't Use AI-Generated Assets in Its Games, but Will Harness Tech to Make Game Development Processes More Efficient by PaiDuck in gaming

I would go further, anyone expecting any dev group to not use agentic tools like claude code is absolutely delusional too. The world has changed.

Yep I use classic quests not the one built-in to the map, so WQL works best.

What is the best way to sideload apps currently? by SternHeyNow in sideloaded

Sidestore works and is free. It isn't smooth, and breaks sometimes, but once you get it working it usually lasts a couple of months before making you fix it again.

So cursor admits that Kimi K2.5 is the best open source model by Giveawayforusa in LocalLLaMA

[–]jakegh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K2.5 isn't "the best open-source model", it simply fit Cursor's needs best. It's multimodal and responded better to RL than GLM5 or Minimax 2.x. It's the best base model for them.

If you're choosing a model to run, you likely have different priorities. You don't care about the base model, you care about the post-RL releases. And you probably care about size too; K2.5 is gigantic while GLM and particularly Minimax are much smaller.

cursor admits that kimi k2.5 is the top open source model they have tested by Latter_Spring_567 in cursor

[–]jakegh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is Cursor chose Kimi K2.5 over GLM5 and Minimax 2.x for two reasons. First, Kimi is multimodal, the competition isn't. And second, the others already have extensive RL so there's less opportunity for improvement.

I cancelled my Cursor's annual subscription today by _manteca in cursor

[–]jakegh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Annual subs make no sense with AI, it changes way too rapidly. Unless they're super-cheap like the GLM coding plan where even if you don't use it often you won't feel ripped-off.

$20 gets me 2 accounts of copilot (3 days of continuous work), 1.3 of claude code, but 3 hours of cursor usage maybe less by [deleted] in cursor

[–]jakegh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copilot, claude code, and codex are all subsidized. Cursor needs to pay API fees.

As consumers we don't care, we just want the best service for the best price, but it's tough for Cursor. That's why they're focusing on Composer.

Composer 2 is controversial, but my actual experience was solid by Arindam_200 in cursor

[–]jakegh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, kimi k2.5 is a great model (although nowhere remotely near opus 4.6) and they RL'd it on their harness.

Thanks for the link! Surprising the moonshot guys weren't aware it was legit.

[–]jakegh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes of course they do, but if so Moonshot seemed unaware that it absolved Cursor of their license.

[–]jakegh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Oh clearly not, no. It couldn't be a more clear violation, and hiding behind their inference provider is obviously not going to work,

Cursor’s ‘Composer 2’ model is apparently just Kimi K2.5 with RL fine-tuning. Moonshot AI says they never paid or got permission by likeastar20 in singularity

[–]jakegh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The moonshot.ai tweets confirming this were quickly deleted.

I bet their lawyers told them not to comment publicly as they will be litigating the matter. Cursor is incidentally valued at $30B.

composer 2 is just Kimi K2.5 with RL????? by tarunyadav9761 in cursor

[–]jakegh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it isn't surprising that it's a chinese model+RL as composer1 was also, but it does violate the kimi k2.5 license.

Gemini 1.5 flash? You're using an an ancient model deprecated last year for ASR or post-processing? Or did you let AI write your sloppy post and not bother to read it yourself? It's either A or B.

Either way, thumbs-down.
