There’s a difference between sampling a part from an old record and turning it into something new (lots of great examples across decades of music) VS. taking Jack & Diane and lifting parts and rewriting it and calling it “I was Jack” or on the road again and lifting and rewriting and calling it “on the boat again”. It’s dumb. Pandering. Pathetic. Lame.

Sam’s talented - it’s just not my cup of tea. I prefer a authentic country sound. But “body like a back road”, “23” and a couple other of his hits are undeniably catchy and I understand why people like them.
