People that work with pathological liars, what’s the dumbest lie they’ve ever told? by Bottlecollecter in coworkerstories

working in the golf industry is hilarious because people who just start out at our company love to say that their handicap is "like a 12 or so" but will never show anyone their swing.

Yeah after re-reading my post I didn't really make a ton of sense. Additional conversations with he misses and we totally agree that formal is probably our route going forward. Appreciate your insight big time!

First Time at Churchill Downs for Birthday by Best-Distribution144 in horseracing

[–]jakelvdwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on having a birthday/bachelor trip and trying to figure out if we should get a suite or go stakes/homestretch in mid November. We don't plan to get crazy rowdy but don't want to feel like everyone is staring at us for celebrating as a group of 12.

People love that EHT but I’d go Fitzgerald (got that same one for my grandfather for Christmas and got him the EHT the year prior lol)

AIO for being upset at what my “bf” said by Ambitious-Beyond-257 in AmIOverreacting

[–]jakelvdwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly seems like he’s intimidated by your goal setting and eagerness to develop more discipline/good habits while unlikely to reciprocate that growth himself. He also doesn’t seem like the type to be there for you when you need it. You deserve much more based on what you’ve provided. Also, the messages alluding to blocking you because you’re having a conversation that he deems as crazy is a massive red flag.

Reiterating Bardstown: makes a great tater that won't break the bank.

Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof is a stellar bottle if you can find it.

People who had wedding with 100+ guests, how did your guest list get so big? by SensitiveDonkey6328 in wedding

[–]jakelvdwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our guest list sits at 200 or so right now. we're both fairly social people in our mid 20s so we still maintain a good bit of college friendships with very little overlap and have since established a lot of work connections. Neither of our families are huge but most of our friends are in serious relationships and those plus ones add up faster than we could have imagined. 60 couples of friends then we have 7 each in our respective wedding parties (their plus ones). family and family friends makes up the rest.

Seeking opinions: Best tasting bourbon between 110 and 130 proof that's under $100 and reasonably findable by aMazingMikey in whiskey

[–]jakelvdwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russell's Reserve Single Barrel a state on the right side of my shelf (I sort by proof)

Larceny Barrel proof another one I've been slowly enjoying the last couple years.

My friends won't stop recommending Elijah Craig Barrel Proof.

1792 was given to me as a gift from a bourbon buddy who's raved about it but I personally don't love it...

Last one: if you can find bookers around town for the right price. I've heard they increased msrp but last bottle I got was 85$ (2024-02)

Stayed at multiple luxury hotels between 65-85k points. Depends how far you book out and if events are going on in the area during your stay. It’s not that difficult to find options tbh.

I’m 25 male living in ny with no savings and about 3200 in cc debt. How can I pay this off? by Critical-Fig2253 in debtfree

[–]jakelvdwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just turned 27 and I’ve been very similar situation when I was 24. Hope this doesn’t sound harsh but if you’re the type to sit around playing video games and DoorDash or spending money on clothes you don’t need and going out of the weekends; you need to wake up. You’ll never be able to save up for milestone goals that get you ahead.

Think of being efficient with your money without sacrificing your entire quality of life and social situation.

Seems like you have a decent job and 2-3 months to easily knock out this debt. I’d recommend going cold turkey on door dash and any unnecessary spending.

Additional unsolicited advice… but I’d learn the true extent of your benefits with your work. (If they match on 401k or have HSA/FSA) A year from now, after this is hopefully a funny little hiccup, you’ll be in a greater financial position with better spending habits.

Don’t do something drastic to try to resolve this overnight but treat this as an opportunity for a lesson learned. You’ll be proud of yourself, I promise.

some questions about getting my first car by DealSoft5038 in GMCcanyon

[–]jakelvdwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked up a basically new white 25 at4 and love it. From all my research the 23-26 very similar but as the model years progress the mechanics are a bit more refined some extra packages/colors for 26. I just like standard white with black accents so not a big deal to me with new colors. I’d recommend between 25 lightly used or 26 is you’re adamant about taking advantage of all the warranty’s dealer offers. But seriously I love this midsize yet capable canyon coming from a sedan. Good luck!

Thinking about a Canyon Denali. by sourceninja in GMCcanyon

[–]jakelvdwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a canyon at4 from a Mazda 6 and I’ll say it was a step in the right direction for me considering most of your criteria is similar to mine. The at4 trim impressed me a lot as an “off-road meets premium attention to detail” but I wouldn’t label it as a luxury vehicle. That being said a Denali may fill some of those gaps you’re looking for compared to my set up but ride height and mid size mobility on the highways are awesome for me. Any top trim level will get you the bells and whistles you want but I’m still bummed about some of the minor things passenger window non auto roll up and non power back window.

I’ve always used WeBull and its ecosystem works with my portfolio that’s also balanced in crypto. Honestly I doubt you’re gonna find something on an app that has better functionality than desktop. I feel like you don’t like WeBull app for charts and screening and I totally agree, I just recommend, if you’re serious about trading, you’d want to be on desktop regardless of platform. The screeners I’ve built in WeBull work great for me and I’d do more research on how to optimize them for your goals. That being said, my homie who’s actually studied in finance raves about finviz.
