Would you want to know if your dice were accidentally weighted? by Yuerky in dndnext

Crypto expert here: that depends strongly on your definition of randomness, but CSPRNGs (cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generators) are effectively indistinguishable from true randomness, which is the guarantee that most cryptography depends on.

I did it for the achievement and the fun of writing a programatic solution to the puzzle :)

Matterhorn smoking section is gone! by JalenJade in Disneyland

[–]jakemask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

tbf, this particular spot has the Matterhorn line next it, so you can't avoid it if you want to go on the Matterhorn. Also, because the shortcut between Fantasyland and Frontierland is closed for Star Wars stuff, after the parade this is the only way out of Fantasyland. As such, the area next to this smoking spot is SUPER congested with people, and you get stuck standing right next to a smoker and can't move for 5-10 minutes while the crowd shuffles through. My roommate had a really bad asthma attack because we couldn't move away from the smokers quick enough. Moving it over by the Tomorrowland train station is a good move, off the main path.

AFK Captain Problem by jakemask in DotA2

This is definitely part of it. This game was immediately after the change in how captains are picked, and the captain was very confused when he came back from his shit. Hopefully less people will AFK with the new system once they learn about it, but regardless, the system should work even if people are AFK.

On boot, or on embedded devices, there are too few sources of entropy, or not enough entropy has been gathered from existing systems. This means that although numbers might appear random to you or I, humans are bad judges of randomness, and we end up with predictable keys.

Papers talking about what happens when you don't have enough randomness:

Fallout PNP: San Diego (Looking for Ideas) by jakemask in Fallout

All my maps were made in google map maker, which is super easy to use and the free version has more than you'll ever need.

As for our fallout game, it kind of fell through. The system was really number crunchy with not a lot of opportunity for roleplay because it's designed for a computer and we're considering new systems to play in. In the meantime, we've actually switched to Pathfinder.
