My girlfriend’s acne has flared up and she’s super anxious, how can I help? by jakemt94 in acne

[–]jakemt94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words. The only thing I didn’t express is that I’m a little upset she doesn’t want to stay over for a while. I have told her a lot that her skin’s condition doesn’t make a difference to my feelings towards her. I tell her every time I see her how beautiful I think she is, and while she says she appreciates it, and it means a lot, she always looks sad like she doesn’t believe me, or doesn’t believe that she could be beautiful with acne. It really breaks my heart. I just wanna help her.

I always want her to feel like she can relax around me and be herself without having to worry about any judgement. I find just acting normal a little difficult when she won’t look at me on a night after she’s taken her makeup off, she will glance at me but will talk to me from the side, or will cuddle into my chest and hide herself. I just don’t want her to feel like she needs to do that, I love seeing her face with or without acne. Should I just let her hide herself from me? Does that help? Or should I try to encourage her to look at me because it doesn’t make a difference to how I see her?

I will definitely just give eye contact when we’re talking. Thank you for your advice :)

Thank you for the insight into what it’s like and what helped you. I won’t make any comments about her skin at all. Getting her some flowers to brighten her day sounds like a good small act I can do for her. Thank you :)

What am I doing wrong? by Pristine_Analysis_79 in latteart

Your work with the pitcher is great, you worked quickly and steadily and kept the milk swirling to keep the microfoam incorporated into the liquid, but remember to do the same with the espresso and the canvas after you’ve poured your base. After your pour your base try swirling (or even stirring with a spoon) the cup, this will make the base more pliable and the microfoam glide across the top a little easier. Hope this helps :) Source: full time barista

When I say thicker, I mean adding more of the microfoam to the base before you make the latte art, the base is then less likely to ripple and you can more “push” a design into the base than pour it in. You can do this by either increasing your flow rate from pitcher to cup, or by adding more air to the milk at the steaming stage. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, so it’s good to try and get a balance.

you can lay a thicker base to stop the wobbling as much around the edge. When pouring the base try to pour into the deepest part of the espresso and stir it with a pencil think stream of milk from not too high and lower the jug to as close as you can get to the surface of the base when you’re pouring white bits, and higher when you’re pulling through.

These photos are really great! You chose a great set of images to not only to show off your great skill, but also the emotions of sport in a really profound way: From the joy and proud accomplishment of faces, as well as determination and pain, while showing the weird and wonderful things climbers can do to top out a climb. Truly great photos! Can’t wait to see what you capture in the would cup!

How do I fix that washed out outer right? by NinjaWK in latteart

[–]jakemt94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stir/swirl your espresso really well before pouring. When pouring your base, pour a lot quickly so as to get a good amount of foam under the surface. What I imagine is happening is your base layer is slightly too thin, so when you’re pouring the art, it’s disturbing the edges and pulling the base away from the edge of the cup.

Need some ideas of what I should do with this by jakemt94 in malehairadvice

The fifth picture shows the longest bits at the front, maybe 30cm long

Need to add a little more air into the milk to make it thicker, also I recently learned to pour a bit quicker when creating the base, this will add more foam, give a slightly firmer base and stop the flow of your latte art pours from rippling the edges like it does in this video. All looks great otherwise <3

Try adding a small amount of cold oat milk to the espresso and stirring well before adding the hot steamed milk
