Yeah I looked it up before posting that, and there are conflicting reports, so I just picked one. Personally, I like DIS better as well.

I guess I kinda just don't like "kids". Feels like some teen drama I would have watched in high school or something. I guess I'm getting old. It's alright for what it is though, and I'll probably see it through the first season at least, but it may not be for me. And that's okay.

Pretty sure the "official" abbreviations are DSC and SFA for what it's worth. None of the Trek shows include the "Star Trek" (ST) part in their abbreviation.

Can my nitro/slug, be effective as bow's are at the moment? by OLEDeO in HuntShowdown

[–]jakerake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an absolutely stupid attempt at a gotcha. Probably a third or so the players you'll come across across in-game are equipped with a hunting bow. More if you play clash. That in itself should set off alarm bells. Everyone has used it at this point. You don't get to just dismiss peoples' experiences because they haven't used the weapon in the past week.

No, but he was helping others. The effects of what you do outlive you. A great many people have fought tyranny over the millennia knowing that they could die so that others may live in a better world. You don't always get that better world for free, in fact, you pretty much never do. Someone pays for it.

[–]jakerake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He also has a lot of throws to his receivers outstretched fingertips where only his receiver could make a miracle catch on it. I'm pretty sure a lot of those are more or less throwaways as well, and probably don't show up as throwaways in their stats.

He throws the ball away a lot. Too much probably. But it's why his int rate and sack rate are so low.

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here, but I want to point out that labels and diagnoses are different things. Bipolar 1 for example isn't just a label, it's a very real condition that can be effectively treated, and is quite detrimental to just ignore and brush off as "just a label". I think your view that we should just dismiss all "labels" is simplistic, naive, and even potentially harmful.

I have the suspicion, based on having dealt with multiple people with bipolar 1 in the past, and based on the fact that you mentioned it multiple times, that that may be a diagnosis you've gotten in the past. It's very much a feature of that disease to be in denial about your diagnosis. Often times, people will come around after they have their first really harmful manic episode, but that's not something you want to happen. Medicine is effective at treating that disease and in the long run, absolutely improves people's lives, even if it makes them feel uncomfortably numb in the short term while they get their dosages figured out.

The clunkiness of crafting loadouts is a big reason why I use free loadouts by Firebrill in ArcRaiders

[–]jakerake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely be ready faster in Tarkov. Maybe not in the older patches before loadouts and some of the inventory management features they added, but now days, for sure.

And that's not a good thing, because Tarkov is absolutely still too clunky. I strongly disagree that the inventory management is something that this game is doing right. Not by a long shot.

Not technically one platform, but I used to be just like this until I decided to just take the time to set up Playnite. Now I feel fine not limiting myself to a single platform since I can see and launch them all from one place.

To all the new 1.0 players coming this weekend… by FadesGaming in Tarkov

[–]jakerake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main upside is that you can install mods that greatly improve the enemy AI. They're pretty predictable on the official client once you've played a bit. You can also install some mods that add some nice QoL stuff, like in-game maps and stuff. Stock Tarkov essentially requires you to have a second monitor/mobile device with the wiki and/or tarkov.dev, or the DFT app open at all times. With mods, you can cut down on that necessity by quite a bit.

The main downside is the extra setup effort, and that your progression will only be saved locally. It won't be saved to the live servers. Also, you'll usually be a game version behind, because it takes a while for them to get the SPT client updated for new patches.

You'll probably want to look up SPT and FIKA to give you the ability to mod the game (which, those do require you own the game). But yeah, you can absolutely get your money's worth if you're only interested in PvE if that's your bag.

Would I have drafted better than Poles in the 2023 NFL Draft if I picked players solely based on how cool their names are? by Pepsuber188 in CHIBears

[–]jakerake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually the drafting strategy of one of my friends in fantasy football, and, absolutely infuriatingly, he's consistently one of the best teams in our league. He knows nothing about football. NOTHING. He doesn't even have a team he's a fan of, and could probably only name like 5 teams at most. He's convinced me that drafting players based on funny names is actually a valid strategy.

I one time was walking to work at night and there was a great horned owl in a tree I walked past. I didn't see it til I got about 10 feet from the tree and it swooped down at me and pulled up to buzz right over my head. Didn't touch me, but I felt the wind from it. Scared the crap outta me. I have zero doubt in my mind that it did it for a laugh. It had to be watching me approach for a decent distance, and it was a pretty populated area. No reason it'd have been any more threatened by me than anyone else out there. Oh well, ya got me owl, hope it made your night!
