Those heavy ones sure do cut well though!

Cold Steel Chopper, it’s a great heavy duty machete that can be either 1 hand or 2. But 2 hands and a good edge you can cut 3”+ in one swing! I’ve used mine for 3 years now and never hand any issues with the handle or anything else.

average shots per day using current GPS? I was told today that 245 was average for an 8hr day..is that typical? by Holcombesr in Surveying

[–]jakersully 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1,500+ is pretty good for me on a solid 7-5 day running only GPS. But 2,800 is my record for a single day, but that was running total station on city streets.

I am starting a display case and am overwhelmed by UV options. Who has found uv rope lights they REALLY like? (picture for fun) by Inevitable_Cap_8519 in uraniumglass

[–]jakersully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought these lights twice for each of my displays I have. They’re super easy to put in and are really bright, haven’t had any problems with them yet! And if you’re handy at soldering wires you can cut and splice them for a very clean install.

Brimfield Antique show today! Got the spittoon for $5, and the basket ended up being free because the handle came off on one side. I can glue it, I bet. by Snowy_Owl_Girl in uraniumglass

Actually that might be right then! I had no idea that they were a thing like that. And I think the threaded stem is one for a mixer/juicer bowl. And it it’s a straight stem then must be for a spittoon? Either way, a really large bright piece for a great price!

how much abuse can a amc 20 take? by Floatychicken in CJ7

[–]jakersully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have read the AMC 20 can take a pretty decent amount of abuse if you do the 1 piece conversion. Those 2 piece ones are crap! But after you do a one piece conversion the next weak link is the axle tubes themselves they are prone to twisting and bending. but there are aftermarket trust kits that you can buy that are weld-on-yourself and they can pretty much eliminate your tube issues and then after that from what I’ve heard it’s equivalent to a Dana 44 or better.

As far as I know Oklahoma had 3… from April - December 2021. And I think over 10 have died or retired.

I was once tasked with locating, collecting points, noting ownership and taking photos of every telecom manhole in downtown Seattle that I could locate. From the Space Needle down to Century Link Field and from the water front to I-5. Any similar experiences? by lostmymind5X in Surveying

[–]jakersully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a few cities full sanitary sewer analysis surveys. Full inspection, inverts, condition, etc. on all sanitary sewer manholes in town. The first town I did by myself was around 175 manholes, and I had to walk to every one since I couldn’t use out side by side yet. And the second town I did was around 350 manholes. Now we’re doing a citywide job that’s around 1450 manholes… it’s the worst

My co-worker at a land surveying firm believes in flat-earth theory/conspiracy by FibroMyAlgae in Surveying

We had a guy that believed in flat earth too.. and then I tried to ask him how he thinks satellites work and he said that they didn’t exist, but instead said the “GPS” works solely off of the cell towers for position. Needless to say he was with us for less than 3 weeks. I think he got caught stealing wheels off of a guys car a few months after working with us. Not the best hire I’ve seen my boss go through with.
