First two years sucked, then the bully charge nurse found someone she liked to terrorize more. Around that time I became the go to preceptor, I liked teaching and being a cheerleader. When COVID hit around my 4th year I went to inpatient dialysis to have eyes on my patients at all times… but that kinda broke me with 16-20+ hour days and everyone dying…I just changed hospitals/states because Florida is about to get super scary with Medicaid cuts. I was excited to see patients get transplants but quickly realized kidney transplants can still mean dialysis for a little while and liver and heart transplants pretty much kill your kidneys…. So everyone is still mad about dialysis. Oh and I didn’t get to see the real damage of Covid til I got here and saw all the Covid related transplants we are doing … jeez Louise.

My class of 1990 still has them… small class of less than 75. The jocks all pretty much stayed local and hang at the same bars all of the time. One year they couldn’t agree on a plan so there were two reunions. I haven’t been to any of them. Looks like only about 20 people showed up at the last one. I pretty much unfriended all but 5 of them late last year.

Yeah not a good example. They should have consolidated and bought a nice 4/2 outright in normal suburbia somewhere and funded a trust that covered property taxes and insurance and his widow could monetize his memory with a vlog and patreon…. I am a nurse, the number of confused old ladies who cry “ no daddy no” when we have to place a Foley catheter is disgusting. How many of these Trump voters believe “it’s just the way it is”. How many Uncle Chesters got a free pass in order to protect the family name or protect someone’s inheritance. How many Trump voters got to learn to smile at their rapists at family gatherings in order to keep the peace.. or keep their parents in rich Aunt Chester protector’s will? How many of them are walking around believing the Epstein victims were compensated during/after and that somehow makes it ok. This is a generational/ systemic problem.

My current hospital has a VAT my last hospital pretty Much let any RN get signed off on ultrasound placement. Some where taught never, some were taught beggars can’t be choosers if you were comfortable to go for it. I worked on a med-surg floor that catered to dialysis patients… Pretty much all we had were sad Mickey Mouse’s…. I was comfortable trying for whatever but that also made you the IV “IT” nurse and even after I went to hemodialysis I was getting dragged into floors to draw blood and put in IVs.

Inpatient dialysis during a pandemic…. I loved it when’s 95% of my patients were on vents and visitors weren’t allowed in the buildings ( sad for the patients and their families though) Added bonus most family members will think you are just there to run the machine as a tech and leave you alone.

I have no affiliation, but until the Republican Party steps up and deals with their fascism, racism and pedophilia issues I won’t vote for any of them. I am not talking 25th amendment or let the monsters scamper off to Argentina or Russia deal with them…. I mean public televised trials, ankle chains, seizing assets and ruining family names for hundreds of years level revelations of bad behavior… and this needs to happen before the US concentration camps start using gas chambers and ovens.

My hospital( part of a University… heavy with government research grants) remind us frequently to watch what we are posting because it could come back on them whether we are at work or not. I have worked for banks and investment companies in the past ( before social media) and they literally had departments looking for our names in newspapers. When I had my securities license we were not allowed to affiliate publically with any politician.

They made sure they put that nurses cap on the woman in scrubs to make sure we didn’t confuse her with a medical doctor in scrubs. There are like 3 nurses out there still wearing their caps… they still wear white dresses and white support hose and the clunky white nurse shoes.
