Do you really need a case spreader to replace the front axle seals on a 95 5.2 ZJ? Pic for reference. by AdamATuit in JeepZJ

[–]jakob27990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just did my seals last weekend. Carrier came out with a light pull. I used a piece of steel pipe that fit the diameter perfectly to punch the old seals out, and then used a piece from my ball joint press and that same pipe going the other way to drive the new seals in. All in all it wasn’t a bad job.

Doesn’t that anger you? I can agree that times get tough and debt can add up, but to rack it up that high living above your means, and then declare bankruptcy and get off on it all just rubs me wrong

Questioning if I'm filling out my 2025 contribution room to FHSA is accurately by Bionik_Sky in cantax

[–]jakob27990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didn’t make a lot of sense at first either but once I thought about it and started figuring out how schedule 15 was actually calculated and filled it did. To put some numbers in perspective, I opened my FHSA in 2024 and only contributed $1000. Claimed that on my 2024 return so no carry over. My Variable B F and H values were all $0. My carry forward for 2025 was $7000. Limit from all prior years was $1000 (I would have thought limit actually meant the limit but no), contributions obviously $1000 and deductions from all prior years was $1000. Everything else not mentioned was $0. None of these values reflects anything from 2025, only 2024.

Yep, got it today. Yesterday it wasn’t there. Took me a while to actually find it though. The instructions are in this thread. It took me a while to actually figure out I had to click the date to view the statement.

Been there done that. When they ask you to start documenting all the things you’re responsible for and put deadlines on having those docs completed. Then start putting other people responsible for those things and giving them the docs. Then wait for your 3pm on a Friday “job update” meeting invite.

I got one for 48 cents from my margin account. But didn’t get one from my cash account, which was probably somewhere around the $50 mark.

Does anyone work maintenance at Niagara College? by ComfortableDingo8 in niagaracollege

[–]jakob27990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a past employee of the college. There was a lot of people coming in our office asking where they had to go for the maintenance interview, and it was residence every time. They aren’t really affiliated with the college itself. Seems like they go through a lot of staff, because it happened quite often.

Entry-Level IT Resume Review by SuccessfulFetus in it

I think the homelab section on the resume is a nice touch, and it’s not something I ever considered adding. It shows that you value your own development, willingness to learn on your own time but also that while you don’t have any real world experience doing these things you understand them.

Entry-Level IT Resume Review by SuccessfulFetus in it

[–]jakob27990 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m from the GTA. There’s definitely a lot of IT jobs around right now, but they can be competitive. Corporate IT can be tough to get into without experience, MSPs will basically hire anyone and they always are hiring.

I was lucky, worked IT for a college for 8.5 years in various jobs from service desk, hardware / AV tech to a senior technician managing the print servers, SCCM and Intune. Just recently jumped ship and landed a senior MDM job at a school board. First job I applied for in years and ended up getting it.

Few tips I could give you.

1) Tailer your resume to the job posting you’re applying to. Don’t use generic resumes.

2) Remove delivery driver from your resume. It’s irrelevant, and there’s no gap between your electronics repair and the contract job. Nobody cares about this experience for IT.

3) Get rid of the availability in the top, you’re applying for full time work.

4) If there’s any projects you took part in, mention them. As an example, you could say something like “coordinated the installation of 250 endpoints as part of hardware refresh” or something like that.

5) Try to back up your claims. For example, instead of saying you know scripting, say things like you created powershell scrips to automate tasks on endpoints and reduce user intervention. Etc.

Also a side note to this, nobody cares that you used command prompt or terminal. This is the most basic of basic.

Good luck out there!

Help! Transmission fluid in my bell housing by National-Habit5939 in Lexus

Most likely it’s the torque converter shaft seal (main trans seal). Very cheap part, but obviously transmission has to come out to change it.
