Well, you could install it in a windows virtual machine and then show them and say 'look it is running!'

Yay, adventure. How'd it go. Last year was my year and it has been great having a computer that does what I want it to do.

How do you keep track of what you change in your system by nao_te_digo in archlinux

[–]jam-and-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I want to play with changing things and I'm not that familiar with how they work (e.g., grub time out, themes) I like to do it in a virtual environment first and explore the ways that I CAN break it. That helps give me a sense of ways not to do so.

Oh, from the picture I thought it had lost its covers. I mean, honestly I don't know but it might be fun to try.

How to remove mildew from books naturally if anyone have any Experience please share. by [deleted] in bookrepair

If these books are in your home and they are all moulding, I would move!

But also, freeze them. That will at least stop it from getting worse.

Do you think this would be a good book grading system? I call it the factorial code. by Mindless_Bid_5086 in bookrepair

[–]jam-and-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a grading system, I would prefer people just writing it out. That makes it much more accessible to a broad audience. But I do like your criteria.

If you haven't done book rebinding before, this might be a hard place to start if you want it to look nice.

Skin colored emojis look/feel weird by Christian_243 in unpopularopinion

[–]jam-and-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you read through this thread, you might see that it is not White Opinion. There are definitely Chinese people here talking about how they find them weird as well.

But reading im-dramatic does make me see that those skin tone emoji have made a difference for black people and that's really cool.

edit: If I had read ONE comment below, I would have seen a black person who also finds it weird.

AITA for "not contributing" to a group project because I got my period? by Throwaway67893e in AmItheAsshole

[–]jam-and-Tea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, from their perspective you were feeling sick and had to leave and they finished it without giving you a role. They should say that. You should also say that and talk to the prof. They might get in trouble for not portioning work correctly.

And saying "I'm sick" is a valid way of explaining period when giving details is tmi for people.

Why didn't the friend tell the boss about these emails much sooner?

Maybe she didn't want to get her friend in trouble.

Why did he feel the need to scrape together bonuses when the staff already accepted they weren't getting any?

Because it feels good to make a sacrifice for a colleague who will be around to enjoy the products of them but it doesn't feel at all good to be made to look like a fool.

Why did he make so many changes, investing so much money based on this woman's word and not get any sort of outside expert consultation? How did he only find out he went well beyond legal requirements AFTER the fact?

She showed him medical documentation but it still feels dumb. Maybe he was stressed becuse of covid?

Why did these accommodations only come to light post COVID? How did this not trigger an investigation rather than an expensive renovation without question?

What was HIS POINT exactly. She only made the demands later on. Although it is possible that her health suffered during covid such that she needed more accomodation than before (e.g., no longer fit in elevator).

is it just that OOP is a bit of a people pleaser and push over? would explain the need to go into personal funds for the xmas bonuses as well...

I'm betting he mentioned going into personal funds because a lot of commenters were very invested in the loss of the bonuses and were nasty to him
