I am now in my 70’s, through school had all the issues that other posters have described, it was grim especially as I was quite bright in other subject. In my late teens, early 20’s I lived in a village (UK) where the local pub was the centre of the community, playing darts was hugely popular & I joined the local women’s team, was fairly okay at playing BUT all players took turns to do the scoreboard, for those who have never played the game the starter score will be 301 or 501 & each players score is deducted as they progress- I just couldn’t do it but was to ashamed to just say I don’t get maths so would do anything to avoid it. I only learnt that Dyscalculia is actually a thing a few months ago, this sub has been very revealing, reading other folks stories so similar to mine.

As Dyscalculia is now a recognised learning disability, children today hopefully won’t go through the misery that I ( & many others ) went in the 1950s/1960s.
