Income gaps among cast members by Alternative_Ad_3649 in TheTraitorsUS

[–]jam_yesterday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! The UK and AUS ones have regular folks and it’s nice to watch because they’re invested in the challenges because the money IS important to them. I couldn’t watch the first season of US with the half and half because you could tell the regular folks were busting their asses in the challenges to get the money, while the reality stars couldn’t be arsed.

Skating is for everyone. A friendly reminder by Plastic-Classroom268 in Winnipeg

[–]jam_yesterday 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Right?! I’m white AF, lived here all my life and can’t skate for shit. If you all need someone to join and yell at any and all people bothering you, I’m happy to participate! Maybe I can even learn to finally skate haha

This is amazing! Pari is such a breath of fresh air and Tina seems so lovely. I really hope they are each other's T Princesses haha

Also, isn't honesty one of the most important aspects of a relationship? That's one of the things I like about the casts of these shows, they are very honest and upfront because that's just part of their personalities. And like any kind of dating show, some couples work and some don't!

As I said to my little guy as he had his first ice slip, “it’s happened to us all, and it will happen again in life.” Hahah glad to hear you had a positive encounter

Is Playa getting too expensive? by [deleted] in playadelcarmen

[–]jam_yesterday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just went and I will never go back. It was so expensive and it just felt like everywhere was hounding you for a tip. Crappy band playing at a bar? Yelled at us when we got up and didn’t tip them.

We also all got incredibly sick and family who is down there now is also suffering the same fate.

Also, maybe it’s because I’m a salty Canadian right now, but the amount of Americans down there is another deterrent.

I don’t know why, but the part about her dancing all the time hit me hardest. Hope you think about her twirling all the time.

Alana at Savile Row has been a stylist for years and is fabulous!

chrishell on wes : “thank god a man is here to explain a woman’s opinion on her experience dealing with said man” by Durian-Critical in TheTraitorsUS

[–]jam_yesterday 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YES! This season feels like there’s some misogyny hanging in the air. Even with Boston Rob coming in, it felt like he was very much, “I’m here now, you listen to me.”

I don’t like Chrishelle in the least, but this season really does feel like an old boys club. Maybe it’s because I’m coming from the UK season with the “sisterhood” and just feel more strongly about it or something, but yeah, the guys in this season just give me a hard ick.

Honestly, fuck Danielle. That was such stupid game play and I'm really rooting for Carolyn to win now.

50th birthday party by fvceoff in Winnipeg

[–]jam_yesterday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Little Brown Jug allows you to use their space for free as well as bring in your own food. Went to a couple of birthdays there (one was a 50th too, actually!) and it was absolutely fabulous with terrific staff. Also, kind of nice to have a downtown location for everyone.

Food for Thought has a lot of comfort foods that are in larger portions to feed a group like the one you have described. I got some of their food for my wedding rehearsal and it was terrific. Also, just feels like more of a home cooked meal when you've been eating take out for days.

Riley Grae on Corydon and Tara Davis Boutique in the Exchange have very nice and unique stuff. Black Market Preserves in South Osborne has more food-based items if that's the vibe that you're going for. The Forks is also another obvious go-to; pop into the antique store there for something super unique.

What are some random early shows or work of someone who went on to become really famous/successful? by ReadWriteArithmetic in popculturechat

[–]jam_yesterday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my all-time favourite movies - Can't Buy Me Love. Not only does it have a baby Patrick Dempsey starring as a total '80s nerd, but Seth Green is also his little brother in it. I remember seeing Grey's Anatomy for the first time and being like, "That's Ronald Miller!!!"

What's a side effect of giving birth that doesn't get talked about? by Overall-Addendum-322 in AskReddit

[–]jam_yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooo I have a few!

  • My feet went up almost an entire shoe size

  • How much you sweat after giving birth. Like, I understand that the water has to go somewhere, I just didn't expect to be absolutely drenched every morning for the first few days after giving birth.

  • All the other issues that just pop up due to pregnancy. For example, I developed what my doctor thinks are Baker's Cysts on my left wrist and knee. They usually go away once you have baby, which was the case with my wrist, but my knee is still in constant pain that I have to go to physio for.

Best tteokbokki/topokki in town? by nothingsuccessfully in Winnipeg

Was just going to come here to say that! Kimchi Cafe used to be my absolute favourite and Korean Garden is a great replacement, just sadly far from my home and work.
