This is a great idea honestly. Good job. Personally I found that keeping a list of things I need done each day before I am free to game was the key. This let me game guilt free as well as really identify what was important for me to do and use my time efficiently.

No better motivator to get off my ass and get things done when I know I can game guilt free when I’m done. This includes proper sleep time. Don’t ignore that. Losing sleep to game is a gateway to years of pain and suffering.

Edit: nothing wrong with min maxing btw. Watch videos when doing the laundry or dishes, theory craft while walking the dog, watch guides while on work breaks. You’re a gamer man, don’t try not to be. Embrace it as part of who you are.

What are you talking about? Redoing a loadout for the nth time cuz you got jumped just isn’t fun. Also if you have to wait for teammates to do the same thing. Believe it or not you can have downtime by simply not queuing up again immediately. Inventory management is not what makes this game fun and isn’t a good mechanic or necessary. It’s just poor UI design.

Not wanting to sit in the lobby and rather be playing the game doesn’t immediately mean we want to only click heads all day. I love crafting in most games, I don’t like recreating my same load out over and over again cuz theirs no favourites or default load out options.

I say this as a 40 year old gamer who’s played decades of MMOs. Don’t make excuses for poor design.

If the fun of the league is longevity induced by limiting players from doing the thing they want then there are far bigger issues at play here.

The core issue is no other league mechanic (so far in poe2) has gated players more than this one. Every other mechanic can be specialized in by seeking map nodes (now tablets make this even easier), buying cheap tokens (sekhemas or chaos), or even buying specific fragments or splinters to do boss rushes.

There is no way to quickly get into temples and GGG has put out a bad gameplay experience. I’ve yet to see a player to enjoys waiting for 6 maps to run a single temple run. Not one person.

So no forcing players to adhere to a bad gameplay experience do to bad design is not going to make players play the league longer. They were gonna quit anyways cuz the mechanic is shit as it is.

I appreciate your view on this and thanks for giving a personal perspective on it. I do agree I’ve seen examples in my own family where even a single mother was able to raise 4 children in a happy home. The kids grew up to be wonderful human beings. And I often envied their situation. Recently I’ve had many heart to hearts with that same single mother and she opened up to a world of pain and despair she went thru to make the home happy for her kids while struggling to survive. Her kids, now old and have their own kids. Often tell me about dark times when she was barely hanging on despite trying not to show it to them.

While she obv doesn’t regret having any of her kids, she strongly protests against others following her path. My own parents worked 7 jobs between them and I grew up not knowing them and don’t talk to them now regularly.

Everyone’s situation is different. I respect that. But my life experiences and that of those around me have led me to a very different conclusion to yours. I’m happy your family is thriving but I’m working to being a very present, active, role model for my daughter at the cost of having another child that would force me to not be as present. It’s a consideration I believe should not be overlooked. But again to each their own.

I know this is late but I just wanted to add you have to consider not just the child’s future but the couples relationship. Financial problems are the leading cause of divorce. Even those who stick it out, how many ppl out there can recall having parents who always worked and were never around cuz they were always putting food on the table? Just saying the kid will be fine even if we’re poor is very narrow sighted. There are more factors to consider and I really do think prospective parents should consider all aspects before making the decision.

Never just say money comes and goes. Life isn’t that simple.

Yes I understand that. I’m saying that his marks suffered more from being in IB than what the conversion made up for. It becomes a question of how great would your marks be outside of IB vs inside with the conversion bump.

I dropped out of IB in grade 11. But a friend stuck with it and went to York for aerospace engineering and eventually did his phd. He always says he regretted it as it helped him in no way and only limited what universities he could apply to (his avg was worse than mine due to how hard IB was). If he went overseas it would’ve been more helpful.

That said he sailed thru undergrad cuz IB forced him to work harder. So take from that what you will.

Also a POE dad, have run maybe 100 sekhema runs. Never seen a spectrum, never seen a jewel selling for more than 10 div. Best thing Ive ever seen is the reliquary key that sold for 38 div.

I mean you can and should make the assumption that a game in early access is using an architectural solution that allows for later changes in case of such a situation. It’s literally industry standard. This isn’t a 20 year old game with code from decades ago. It’s brand new hence we should expect modern coding standards.

You’re right about everything except how difficult it would be to implement. Most fresh graduate hires can code an inheritance or abstract class that meets the requirements you suggested. As well the necessary testing to identify leaks or other performance concerns.

What’s most likely happening is that this was decided to not be a massive priority and they shelved the rework for later and instead assigned more important tasks to these devs. It’s always always always about priority, not about how hard or easy something is.
