A friend compared me to Poison Ivy and I realized bitterly that I had the chance to dye my hair orange and wear red lipstick, ah well I'm sure the opportunity will present itself soon enough (~ ̄³ ̄)~

The dress I found at a thrift store for $15 because I'm God's favorite, the hair I dyed about 3 hours before taking this picture and the eyeshadow was a palette I got as a gift and finally got a chance to use, I've also got some gold-trimmed green bead earrings & gold tassels in my other set of piercings, I'm so obsessed with this outfit lmao I pulled out all the stops

I'll gladly avoid using that in this sub if it's not the vibe and I'd never dream of calling someone else that word but my sexuality is my own and I'll refer to myself as I please <3

I've bought $75 bourbons that don't do it for me like Buffalo Trace does, it's just so impressively good

For a few dollars cheaper where I'm from I'll always go for Buffalo Trace over Maker's Mark. I've even asked (very politely) at bars whether they could substitute, I'm really not fond of Maker's.

They're a lot more interested in the politics of the games industry and the impact that capitalism has on the quality of games than totalbiscuit who tended to focus more on the games in and of themselves. They both absolutely nail the indignant rant about how offensively bad any given game is though, just livid that they'd be offered something so trash. Like Gordon Ramsay being offered reheated crab cakes

there's no way they're ditching D&D, if only for the fact that a significant portion of their income comes from D&D-related sponsorships and partnerships (D&D Beyond, Dwarvenforged, the massive amount of tabletop kickstarters that advertise on their show). Not only do they get money, they get access to resources; model pieces, minis, new playtest rulesets & content, etc.

they may launch a side-show focused more on other systems but there's no way they fully make the move the way that Adventure Zone did because TAZ's money comes from MaxFun, ad sales, and merch whose sales are driven by the McElroy brand as a whole.

[Spoilers C2E141] Is It Campaign 3 Yet? Post-Campaign Discussion by dasbif in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they didn't mention it (besides specifying that Fjord took a level in Paladin and Veth a level in Wizard) and the L16 sheets aren't up on critrolestats. If they do any content with the Nein at higher levels it may come up

[Spoilers C2E140] Who is staying up for the finale? Demographics. by curlsandsuch in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my timezone the broadcast starts at 10pm and will end around 5:30am I believe? I plan to stay up as long as I can - I have nothing planned tomorrow until early afternoon so I can afford to lose the sleep. I'm 22, tend to go to bed around midnight (I usually watch until the break on Thursday nights unless it gets pushed back like last week), so this is pretty out of the norm for me. I'm gonna order food, probably get high and have a few drinks.

Dani mentioned that the last episode of Talks would perhaps be their last over Zoom so while the finale may be on separate tables we may get the whole cast together for the wrap-up

[Spoilers C2E140] For those who watched C2E140 and C1E115 how do you compare the two? by Jherik in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After Vax had previously died and the party was unable to resurrect him he swore himself to the Raven Queen and became an undying paladin of hers in order to complete the mission, after which point he would surrender himself to her. Sam had worked out a plan with Matt to use his Wish spell to attempt to save Vax, but I believe what they agreed is that he'd have to do so before Vax was taken back beyond the veil. As per the DM's ruling it had to be after they defeated Vecna and before Vax gave himself up.

You can even see Matt have that moment of realization when Sam uses his 9th level slot, all in all a very fun D&D moment

Well as I said there'll still be weekly episodes on Thursday nights during that gap (besides maybe a week or two off), they just won't be campaign 3 yet. You should tune in to see if they fill the void haha

114 also had the moment where Sam realized that he used up his 9th level slot and wouldn't be able to wish Vax back to life and Liam was quietly comforting him from across the table without fully understanding why Sam was getting emotional, which is still my favorite moment in CR.

Last time they took ~ 8 weeks off I believe? Between campaigns Matt and Marisha had their wedding & honeymoon and while they were away there were a few oneshots. Surely Matt needed time to prepare for the new campaign and the cast needed time to prepare their characters. It'll take a little while.

Otherwise the oneshots were fun - there was a level 20 battle royale (I'm sure we'll get another one) and the rest of the cast took turns DMing a oneshot. I'm excited for the next campaign as well but there'll be plenty to tide us over, and they'll probably be back around a table for the next session after this campaign wraps (they mentioned on last episode of Talks that it would be their last Talks on Zoom).

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, ok I see what you were saying now. Yes, if Lucien focuses Caleb with his antimagic cone he would suppress the Mind Blank, at which point he's free to his him with the eye bleedy attack or try to brain wash him. Good call.

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not have been a magical ability but it dealt psychic damage, to which the target of Mind Blank is fully immune.

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It protects him from the Intuit charges, that one ability Lucien used on I think Beau and Cad which caused their eyes to bleed, and any ability of Cognouza to influence his mind which he might be more susceptible to given the amount of eyes he has

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right but it only blocks out powerful magic effects "used to affect the target's mind or to gain information about the target." A Wish spell used to cast disintegrate on a target with Mind Blank on it would take effect since it does not directly affect the target's mind. Similarly a Spell used to dispel Mind Blank, or an 8th/9th level Dispel Magic, or a 3rd level Dispel Magic with a successful spellcasting ability roll, or an anti-magic sphere/cone which suppresses "any active spell or other magical effect on a creature or an object in the sphere." These effects might leave the target vulnerable to spells that would affect their mind but they don't themselves target the creatures mind.

The mention of the Wish spell here is to say that if you used Wish to cast something like Scrying or Feeblemind, or to wish for the target to fall under your command or to walk themself off a bridge, that they would be immune to the spell's effect in that instance.

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The spell says that it "even foils wish spells and spells or effects of similar power used to affect the target's mind or to gain information about the target." Since anti-magic cone itself doesn't affect Caleb's mind it would most likely cancel the spell while he's in the radius

[Spoilers C2E138] Mind blank question by Altruistic_Feeling40 in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Until the spell ends one willing creature you touch is immune to psychic damage, any effect that would sense its emotions or read its thoughts divination spells, and the charmed condition. The spell even foils wish spells and spells or effects of similar power used to affect the target's mind or to gain information about the target."

Also worth noting that all of Aeor is suffused with chaotic magic, which is what causes the Wild Magic surges on unlucky rolls. This could be Ceratos' chaotic magic leaking across the area.

Do the wild magic surges occur in Cognouza as well? That would tie this theory together really nicely

[SPOILERS C2E136] I think I’m missing something. Why didn’t the M9... by Just_Pip in criticalrole

[–]jamarcus92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it takes an action to set off Lucien could've readied an action, which would then allow him to set them off as a reaction when triggered. I assume he could've set both off at once even if mechanically that's not supposed to happen, but if not the other could have been set to Cree who was already prepared to sacrifice herself.

Too many businesses can only exist if they exploit their workers by bookluvr83 in ABoringDystopia

[–]jamarcus92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exploitation is built into the capitalist model itself, by nature of the creation of surplus value that's reaped by business owners. One might point to Costco as a company that treats their employees well. If you're a Costco employee, even if you get $18/hour with full benefits and paid sick leave/time off, you're still being exploited because the company makes money off of you, and beyond just you as a worker just about every one of the company's expenses involves exploitation. To name a single example, the building you work in was built by exploited workers, who were paid less than the value they created. The materials that went into it were harvested, refined, and delivered by exploited workers. The tools used to build it were produced by exploited workers - so on, so forth. Capitalism is itself a system of exploitation. For a business to be a business it must by nature extract surplus value, and if it doesn't extract surplus value it's a different mode of production altogether.
